Water getting in driver side of car during rain.
Water getting in driver side of car during rain.
I am getting water in the floor area of where the driver sits in my car. The back seats and passenger side is bone dry, just my seat gets wet under the floormats. I am guessing a clogged drain, does anyone know where the drains are so that I can check and clear them?
I have a 2010 SV with Panoramic Roof

Yes, this is absolutely a blocked drain tube.
This was a major problem on the 6th gen '04s, and I did a sticky writeup on that board explaining how to find how far down the drain tube the blockage was. That told the dealer exactly where to find the blockage (careless assembly was blocking the drain hose on many '04s at the left end of the firewall). But I'm sure things have changed somewhat with the panoramic roof.
But we DO know it is only your left drain tube that is blocked.
Once the stoppage is fixed, be sure and raise up the wet carpet and padding and dry out ALL moisture underneath, else mildew and rusting WILL occur. The metal on this car is rust-resistant, but having moisture that can't escape next to metal for an extended time will cause rust and a dank smell.

Does anyone know where this drain tube can be located? It is sopping wet and I am trying to avoid my car smelling like the bilge of a boat..
I haven't looked on my '09 with panoramic roof. But it may be somewhat similar to the 6th gens, where we could open the sunroof, then look to the front in the space between the headliner area and where the roof would be if there was one in these panoramic things, and in each front corner, there should be a hole for water to drain into. These holes lead to drain tubes.
These drain tubes are necessary because sunroofs (and probably panoramic roofs) are NOT waterproof, so Nissan devised a system that directs the water that gets through the cracks to these two drain holes, which take the water down beneath the car. On the 6th gen, the bottom of the drain tubes was easily visible just behind each front tire. I have not looked to see where they are on my 7th gen. Might still be in the same place.

Here is the response I got from the Dealer.
"The first would be to remove the outer kick panel in the footwell area. Once removed you should see the plastic tube running down and oustside of the car where it would exit inside of the fender liner on the outside of the car. I would just start by making sure that the tube didnt some how come out of the hole and you should be able to blow air through there. The top part is accessed by removing the A pillar trim near the windshield. Once removed you should be able to see the tube. As far as looking from the top of the car you probably will not be able to see it."

Obviously you need to eliminate the source of the water. As far as dealing with the wet floor, I unfortunately have experience dealing with a similar problem. My car only had 300 miles on it when we went to wedding. As luck would have it, we "won" the 2 centerpieces. Each was fresh flowers in a large goldfish bowl shaped container. Each one held about 2 gallons of water. My wife had one on the floor between her feet and the other in her lap when we left the reception. I goosed the gas and the bowl in her lap came up and pretty much emptied directly on me. The one on the floor rolled over and emptied in the passenger footwell. I went through several rolls of paper towels but it was useless. What really worked well was taking our carpet cleaning machine and using the small handheld furniture nozzle to suck the water out of the carpet. After I sucked up as much water as I could, I removed the kick plate and the door jamb trim piece. This allowed me to reach under the carpet and padding to dry the sheet metal of the floor. I then wadded up paper towels to keep the carpet and rug up in the air above the floor. The next day I took a hair dryer and kept pushing warm, not hot air under the carpet and padding. It was hot and dry weather wise at the time so I was able to leave the door open and let the sun do its thing. I took several days to completly dry but once it was, I put everything back together and it's been fine ever since. No musty smell either. If you don't own a a carpet cleaner, you can always rent one just make sure it has a separate hose and small wand for furniture. Good luck!
