Does it bother you that...

Nissan didn't go the extra millimeter on some areas of 7th gen trimmings? On The surface everything is bomb, but when i get a little ocd, like I'm sure many of you are when it comes to your cards, certain things just start to pop out at me.

When I apply pressure to any interior plastics like the door handle or between radio & climate control buttons it squeeks or creeks.

The silver trim, especially at the rear tip of the back doors, is just an exposed metal edge that can practically be pried back by accident.

The exterior door handles seem to "smack" back to place when they slip off the fingers.

For a ~$40K vehicle all I'm questioning is why things aren't a *little* tighter.

There's also the craziness like the thunking engines sounding like diesel trucks, noisy ABS test every time the car first hits 20, and a number of other mystery noises and lights. Seems a little crazy.

And for all her imperfections I will never leave her. True love.

Heh, I know what you mean. My passenger door trim creaks when I hit bumps in the road (or when the bass booms, buwahahaha!), I just noticed the rear door chrome trim slightly flaring out, my rear bumper at the sides slightly juts out...

And more. But yes, I love this car too and all its flaws. I agree that the quality control should've been a little better. Just something more to work on.

I'd be interested to hear about any fixes for some of these things that everyone has done themselves.

You're right about the noisy engine. I was checking my mail and couldn't believe how loud the engine was. My son's 2000 Grand Am with 150k miles is quieter even with the hood up.

The metal trim always catches my towel when I'm drying the car. Minor annoyances but you're right about the lack of attention to detail on Nissan's part.

I'm hoping that when I change my CVT fluid that will help to quiet the engine a little.

What does the CVT fluid have to do with engine noise? In general cars with direct injection (same as diesels) sound noisier than cars with fuel injectors.

The CVT fluid gets thin when used a lot so when the chain moves on the sprocket It makes a clunking noise that is transmitted thru the body chassis and goes thru the engine mount to make the engine have the clunking noise, Which in turn makes you think what I am saying is totally false and I have no idea what I am talking about. LOL it is fun being retired and have nothing better to do that make up crap like this.

You could try blocking the engine sound tube.

Granted I've only had my Max for a little over two weeks, I did spot a few things that bug me.
My Max's sticker is over $42 grand. I was washing the car this last weekend and found that the passenger side rear door, at the bottom, has some poor paintwork and a trim piece by the wheel well isn't quite seated properly.
I called my dealer about the trim piece and they said they'd take care it if I dropped by. I can't expect them to fix poorly applied factory paint.
Granted, no one is likely to ever see the paint imperfection (I can feel it with my hand and up close, it's pretty obvious), but a car with a sticker over $40k should be better QC'd.
I also don't like that I can't hit the voice button and say "Call home". Or "navigation, destination home".

+1 to what Sonomax said. I actually asked my maintenance tech the last time I had my car in for servicing why the engine sounded so loud at idle?

He said the CVT basically transmits its vibrations thru the engine and that a fluid change would make a noticeable difference.

He also said that he changes the fluid in his personal car every 60k miles not 100k as Nissan says. My new fluid came in the mail last night and I'll change mine out on a 55k mile schedule.

OP is right. Nissan definitely cuts major corners on an otherwise fine vehicle. I sat in one the other day and noticed that some of the interior pieces leave me reminiscent of the previous Sentra. As a flagship model, some of the aforementioned things like button feel, paint quality, interior trimmings should feel Infiniti-like. Hopefully the next Gen revises this.

Anyone getting steering noises. Took it in and they heard it but couldn't find anything. They basically lube the calipers. My trunk doesn't line up correctly. Yeah she's fine but not perfect

You are correct on the interior quality, the plastic on the doors and door sills is hard and scratches too easily. Just look at the driver side door pillar, it is full of scratches from the seat belt buckle.
