Feels like something is dragging.
Feels like something is dragging.
I have a 2013 Maxima. I am new to this CVT transmission and wanted to know if this is normal. I believe the brakes are working correctly.
If i am driving 60mph and all of a sudden traffic slows to about 10mph and i hit the brakes to slow down fast and then release them to coast, it feels like the something is still dragging and slowing me down still. But if i accelerate a little then release it it coasts fine.
Thanks,
Merlin

At first, I was not sure I needed this 'feature' (Nissan's word for this). But as I grew used to it, I find I really appreciate this compression braking. I find I am putting no wear on my brakes (original linings in great shape, and the car was built in Sept 2008).
I spent the last week in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, and I used this engine compression braking everywhere I went the entire week. I absolutely love it.
Merlin - This is Nissan's effort to make the Maxima more sporty. They made this change beginning in 2004, and it was very pronounced on my 2004 Maxima SL (with automatic tranny, NOT CVT).
