Just another mpg thread:)

I know this is like an oil thread but my searches reveille nothing.

I just took my Stillen CAI off and after 200 mile mostly around town my computer is telling me I am getting 17 mpg! Now mind you this is " very" light footed...

89 octane
Brand new tires with proper inflation
New air filter
New oil, radiator fluid, 30k on the car
No engine lights and seems to be running normal

I have never saw such bad gas mileage. Should I discounted battery to reset CPU ? Any thoughts

I think you should report back after two fillups and resetting your computer... the computer should have a more accurate reading by then.

That's crazy!
My 2013 F150 gets better mpg.
With my intake and before I put it on I was getting 21-23mpg. Again all with a very light foot

Ignore the computer. It is not a good way to measure your fuel efficiency. Keep track of how many miles you drive and compare that against the actual amount of gas you put in. The only real way to measure your mpg.

Anytime the computer says a crazy number check your actual mpg with 4th grade math. However my maxima's calculations are always within a few tenths of what my actual mpg is. My 2 most recent tanks I have had 26-28 with 93 octane.

I'm getting 26 city/highway mix and 31 strictly highway. This is hand calculated.

As for removing the intake, I'd disconnect the battery for 10 minutes then reconnect. reset your mileage and I bet all is well. Sounds like the computer has not re-calibrated fuel mixture back to the stock air box.

MPG (14.3) + MPH (14.0) = lead foot. Or lots of traffic.
Then again, you roll with an intake and y-pipe, so it is to be expected. Any chance you might post a clip of acceleration from the inside of your car?

My average according to this app called road trip( iPhone App Store) is 21.3 MPG. Considering its a 3.5L v6 I'm very pleased with the performance and the cvt is very smooth and responsive considering this is my first car with a cvt tranny. My previous car 02 galant was a 2.4L 4 cylinder and it gas mileage was ok. I love my max and anxious to see what the 8th gen max will look like. After owning my 2010 max for almost a year I've learned the sweet spots of my car to earn the best mpg's. since I live in Vegas, it's hard for me to get higher then 23 mpg considering our roads aren't as flat as the roads in the Midwest.

24.6 mpg here... Disappointed with that as I averaged 23 mpg in my Charger, with a Hemi.

Two reasons
I lost my job a while ago and needed some money.

Also to be honest I was a little tired of the noise under hard throttle. I was cool for awhile but just tired of it.

This is the one thing I cannot stand about my new maxima. I have 2400 miles on it and only averaging 20 miles per gallon. I realize that I do a bunch of city driving but I only get about 24.5 on the highway driving calm or with cruise control. Anyone have any suggestions ?

Check the pressures on your tires, keep it above 35

Got the car from the dealer and they were set at 40psi. I thought the car rode like CR*P! I reset to 34 and ride is much better. Mileage still bites though. Changing oil next week with Mobil 1 and installing my freshly made muffler deletes. Intake is still undicided. Hopefully it will improve as we go. Thats truely the only down side I can say about this car thus far.

MPG has been getting better as the car gets some miles on it. I avg 23 over the last 7000 miles, and i am not light footed. When i got the car i avg 21...so it is getting better. I am taking a 400 mile highway trip to play some golf on friday, will report back on how well the mpg is.

My civic si avg was 27 and that was a bare bones car with 100 less hp. This car isn't too bad but i sure hope the new ones get over 30.

Just got back from the trip.
467 miles
avg speed 71.1
avg mpg 28.3
time 5h 43m

Construction zones and traffic really messed up the flow of the trip. At the start I had filled up and got right on the highway, and for a solid hour at 73mph I was getting 32-34mpg. Not too bad and this car is awesome on the highway trips. Set the climate control, put the seat back a little and just cruised to the xm radio. Comfortable and quiet. Loved it.

I have just under 21000 miles on mine and the computer says the average from the day i bought it until today is 22.5 mpg, this is mainly local with occasional highway driving, going on a long trip in two days and expect it to go up 1-2 tenths by the time i get back. I feel it is ok based on the car and engine. I'm not looking for 30 mpg in this car.
