Auto door locking

Found something interesting today, used my key fob to roll down the windows today, walking up to the car and the door locks clicked and locked the doors. (Took about 3 min or so) with the windows rolled down. Has anyone had this happen to them.

You hold down the unlock button to roll down the widows. If you don't open the door, then it 'times out' and relocks the door.
Just happened to be at the same time that you walked up to it.

Yeah there's an auto re-lock after a certain time period if you unlocked the car and don't drive away. I don't think it does it if you drive, park, then get out and leave it unlocked.

Ghozt, I hope you're right. I had a 1997 SE and a 2003 SE both of which would lock unexpectedly while my car was parked in my garage.

On my 2003 it happened while I was rotating my tires, this also happened to a friends 2007 car as well.

Although I haven't experienced it with my 2010 Maxima I keep my windows rolled down when the car is in the garage, just in case.

That is correct. It's a security feature so that if you lock the car and then accidentally unlock it (like from the fob in your pocket), the car will relock and arm the security system automatically. If you open the door after the unlock event the car will not relock.
