Ds mode keeps switching to Neutral

Hi, I have typed a long post but turned out it didn't work so I will make it brief this time. I bought my new 2013 Maxima about 2 months ago and I love it. What I'm experiencing right now is that while driving in the Ds mode, the shift switchs to Neutral (this info is displayed on the meter). It started last week and I thought it was a single incident but it keeps doing this more and more often now. This can happen on highway speed or city speed. I'm not an aggressive driver and I don't abuse my cars. I would like to know if any of you have this issue before with your Maxima. Thank you.

First I've heard of it. Is the car actually going into neutral or is it just displaying this? Does it go back into D/Ds mode?

I'd take that in asap, especially a 2013 model. That's not normal for my 2010 S. Sounds potentially dangerous.

Yeah, sounds like the CVT has failed. Get it in ASAP.

First I've heard of this ever as well, I'd take it to Nissan ASAP and stay there until the problem re-creates itself in front of them.

Thanks guys for your input. I have an appointment this week with the dealer. Yes, the car is actually goes into Neutral mode. When it happened for the first time, I didn't know that it switched to Neutral. I tried pressing the accelerator and I heard loud engine noise. I noticed that the RPM went up to 4 or 5 when I hit the gas pedal. To get out of this, I manually shifted right to D. The second time that it happened I noticed right away on the meter that N was on the display. As of today, I can make it fails anytime. I fear that this might happen on the normal D mode. I hope it's a software related issue.

I'm interested to see what the issue is. I've never heard of this happening before either.

Update: I took my car to the dealer yesterday. I took the guy for a ride around the blocks and it happened again. At first they weren't sure what caused it as they found no error code at all. They had talked to Nissan engineer and were waiting for responses. Later in the day they found that the shift cable was slightly out of adjustment on trans shift lever. They had to adjust the cable a bit to resolve the issue. Ds mode seems to have worked perfectly fine now since I picked it up yesterday. I tried hard acceleration a few times and nothing breaks. I've been driving in Ds mode since yesterday just to make sure problem is truly resolved.

Good to hear, glad it wasn't a CVT failure after all.
