Replacing older K&N Air Filter

Hello all,
Sorry for the newbie question, but I just want to make sure I will do this (seems to be a very simple task) right...
I have bought a new K&N RC-2960 Universal High-Flow Air Filter to replace the older one which was installed by the previous owner of my Maxima with the K&N CAI kit. While replacing this filter, I assume I will NOT need to disconnect the battery, is that correct? Any specifics that I should be aware of while do this? Do I need any special tools in addition to the flat screwdriver?
Thank you very much.

P.S. I just want to have two filters available with one being always on the car, while the other one being cleaned and ready.

No you won't need to disconnect the Battery.
The K&N panel filter is good for 50K before cleaning. I could see if you are driving in a dusty/dirty environment you would want to clean it more often but you should be ok.
The main concern is that you install the filter in the right orientation and re-seat the two halves of the air box correctly.

Thank you very much dr_2010SV!
Mine has now 46,000 km (about 29K miles), so I guess, I do not have to rush. Although I do not know which roads the previous owner has taken the car onto, so I would be replacing it at some point of time. I guess I will try to replicate the position/placement of the older filter as much as possible.
Thanks again!

I blew an engine in my last car so I'm paranoid about maintanence so I plan on cleaning mine every couple oil changes, I think stock paper filter is every other oil change

Not a universal as I thought you meant a K&N panel filter.
Looks like the cone type filter for the "Typhoon".
Same conclusion anyway except there's not an air box involved.
Just don't over oil the filter after cleaning.

Thanks. Yes, I meant the one shown below. My very first replacement will be with the brand new filter (it comes pre-oiled from what I understand). The successive ones, yes, I will have to avoid over oiling it.
