Dealer Cost Guessing Game! Rear Brake Job + Rotor Resurfacing

For the rear brake pads and resurfacing the rotors, how much do you think the stealership is quoting me? Can you guess? Car is 09 w/ ~36K miles

Problem is they say it's a standard Nissan rate so I can't even shop it around to another stealership. I guess I have to go local shop but clueless as to parts and can't do it myself (have no tools).

Advice?

My boy quoted me $300 to install new pads/rotors/brake lines on the entire car, so I'd hope that new pads and surfacing is around 150. Knowing the stealership, I say ... $500?

Doing a brake job is such a simple job and it's the first thing any mechanic learned to do before moving forward to bigger and better things.

I suggest buying your own OEM parts and having your local mechanic install them for you for a fraction of the cost the dealer would charge you.

I think it's highly unlikely anyone screwing up a brake job.

I sometimes go to a local mechanic that I've been using for years. I also have a friend who works for an Infiniti dealer as a mechanic. If he has the time, I will try go to him. I also am able to get OEM parts through him. My buddy always tries to charge me very low prices, but I pay him at least what the local shop charges me. So in both cases the labor is a good amount less than the dealer.

If your brakes are not shaking when u hit the brake pedal then don't turn the rotors.

you are just damaging them by thinning them out.

When I worked at the Dealer a brake job paid 2 hours. It included pads and machining the rotors. Todays labor rate is around $95 an hour plus $69.99 for pads. Then you have shop supplies and tax. I can see $300.00 what a bargain.
