Plasti dipped wheels

I'm posting this for those with plaati dipped wheels, just something to look out for. So when I bought my car I noticed a wheel shake lets say over 40 mph but didnt think anything of it and plasti dipped my wheels. So I brought to the dealer to have the wheels balanced, it improved alittle bit. Long story short I had the wheels balanced 3 different times up until last week when I decided to remove the plasti dip because they started to look dull off color from brake dust and such. I gave each wheel a thorough cleaning inside and out. I'm proud to say after a week or so of driving I no longer have any shakes in the wheel. On a side note when I did dip my wheels, each wheel got 4 even coats. I know it might sound crazy but I believe that little extra weight was throwing off the balance...so those with plasti dip wheels and wheel shakes might want to look into this

Dude dont insult my intelligence, if u can explain how balancing issues stopped after removing the dip I'd like to hear it... and if u ever worked with this stuff you'd know it's not the same as paint. I know what I know, if no one wants to take my advice from my findings then tough ****. Unless you got facts as to why plasti dip "paint" didn't throw the balance of my wheels off keep the comments to yourself. This could be useful for someone battling balancing issues....thank you

Lets weigh a gallon/can of regular spray paint and a gallon/can of plasti dip that has been dried, let's see the difference of weight and how that could affect balancing

This is a little over reaction IMO.

I think I would agree with Bassbreaker that if you applied the coats evenly, there's no way that it would contribute to wheel vibrations. Even if you didnt apply it exactly even and there was a little extra weight on one side of the wheel, that difference would have been balanced out when you had the wheels balanced 3 times.

I find it hard to believe that the dip was your problem. Was there anything else that you changed or replaced? Could it just be placebo and you think there is less vibration?

You even said yourself that it sounds crazy.........

Your right, no reason to get crazy...what I saw as a solution got quickly denied without a discussion. If its impossible we can close the thread. Enough said thanks guys

So you bought the car and felt the vibration....then Plasti dipped the wheels, and still felt the vibration, then removed the dip and cleaned the wheels and the vibration is gone... yet you think the vibration was caused by the Plasti dip?

THE VIBRATION YOU FELT BEFORE YOU PLASTI DIPPED THE WHEELS was caused by the Plasti dip?

Lmao...Really?! Like others have said paint wouldn't throw your wheels out of balance. Grow some thicker skin, you are on a public forum. You can't expect people to not react to that, smh.

My car felt funny after I dipped my wheels, torqued them to the right specs and wala...back to smoothness.
