Tinted tail lights

Hi all, I put 2012 style tails on my 2011 and have been stuck with the old lights since then. I was thinking of throwing a couple of coats of vht night shades on them for fun and see how they turn out. For those of you who have done this have you had much trouble with the law? BTW I live in canada.

Thanks

The law wouldn't be my concern, I'd be more concerned with someone crashing into me the way people drive today. If I were to do anything to my tails I'd smoke them but not black them out. Just my .02 cents

I've done it dozens of times just don't black out and you should have no issues.

I'm not sure the brand as I had a local car vinyl shop do it for me. The color is more of a dark smoke than black. When installed the red on the tail light housing is still visible when and does not affect the lights while braking at all

You could also plastic dip the tail lights.

Simple, just don't black-out the LED's and go light on the turns and you'll be ok.....

VHT night shades sucks. ive done it twice now with clear over it and its faded both times. just go with a tinted clear done with a paint gun, MUCH better and it actually lasts. and definitely don't go too dark, if someone rear ends you as soon as insurance sees that guess who's fault it is?

Actually my NS are holding up extremely well. I just hit the clear coat with some compound and re-wax when they start to dull. Being able to park in a garage probably goes a long way by keeping them from excessive UV exposure. I agree with not shading over the LED's, your just asking for potential trouble.

mine didnt dull, they literally faded back to stock color. compounding apparently sped that process up.

Just do a light vinyl tint. A lot safer and looks better than stock
If ur familiar w tint and heating it to work around tail lights , it's not very difficult.

paint can be safer than vinyl, my boy had his G35 tails sprayed with a very very dark ruby red paint mixed with clear and they came out looking BLACK but work just as good as OEM even in the day time. just if you're like some of these other fools who black it out until its not functional, that's definitely not safe.

Yea they do look good, BUT I still think that you can reproduce the 2012-2014 look on the OEM lights, they are just sick! The ones I keep finding on eBay though are cracked, chipped, broken in some way!!!

Yes I transferred my old plates from another car to the Max so I don't have to have a Front plate.

I just recently tinted mine with Rustoleum Lens Tint (4 coats), 1000 grit sanding, 2000 grit and 3000 grit sanding followed by Plast-X.
