2 quick questions about the Maxima 2011

Hi..
I am just about to buy a 2011 Maxima SV. The dealer let me take the car for 24 hrs to test drive it. The car has the sports package and paddle shifters. While driving I had the car in and out of the manual mode and drive mode and everything worked great. Then my wife was driving and I was trying to show her how to work the paddle shifters but the car would not go into manual mode. I had the shift **** down and to the left where it should be but it stayed in drive mode. I thought my wife was doing something wrong so I switched with her and had the same problem. I came home, turned the car off and came out an hour later and everything worked fine again and the next day too. The car comes with a 100K drive train warranty which puts my mind at ease but what if this is an electrical problem? Has anyone else ever heard of this problem with the Maxima?

Second question, when locking the Maxima with the keys there is no horn sound as with other cars, is this the way it is suppose to be or should the horn sound when pushing the lock button on the keys?

Thanks!

The lack of manual mode sounds odd. The horn can be turned on or off in the menu settings.

Or by holding down the lock and unlock buttons on the remote at the same time...

Sounds like the micro switch in the shifter was not seeing it in position as for the alarm horn just hold the arm and disarm at the same time till you hear the horn honk and you're done
