Shaking over 70mph

Anyone else experience the car shaking/swaying at speeds over 70mph?
I feel like it takes so much effort and concentration to keep her centered around these speeds. Any thoughts?

Shaking more than likely is a wheel balance issue

When I'm on the freeway and traffic lets me I cruise at 70-75, no shaking or pulling at all. You probably got a tire problem, balance problem or an allignment problem. I would start there as this car drives great at those speeds.

Wheel balance and if it still occurs probably a bent rim!

I had this on the original RSAs and could never balance it out. When I went to my first set of Michelins no more vibrations...same with the second set I put on.

If you have not torqued your lugs to the correct specs do that, it helped with mine.

Torque the nuts to spec
Check wheel alignment

THEN

check tire balance

At 35000 miles, original GY RSA tires, Rotated tires every other oil change, Never Balanced. (NO shimmy) cruise on the interstate between 70-80 and don't feel any vibration or pulling left or right.

Somewhat similar for my 2009. At 42+k miles, OEM wheels and original RS-A tires, rotated at 15K and 30K, never touched alignment or balance, tires wearing very evenly, and cruises smoothly at 75 MPH.

When I think back to the never-ending problems I had with tires through the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, I consider today's tires to be a true marvel of modern engineering.

Suspect 1 bad tire

I'd get all 4 tires inspected, the symptom points to either a balance issue or a belt has shifted on one of the tires. If the rim has been hit, that would cause a problem....but you'd know if the rim was hit ? right?

Not necessarily (about the bent rim). I discovered a bent rim on my brand new Max (along with some damage on the rocker panel) and it was replaced by the dealer because it was a brand new car. I only discovered it (quite by accident) because I was hearing a noise. It turns out, a small, thin metal rod had jammed it's way into a mudflap and was scraping the ground at low speeds. When I found the rod and removed it, I happened to glance across to the opposite wheel, and the inside rim of the wheel was bent.

Definitely have not hit a rim. Actually if that ever happened I would probably punch myself in the face...

Defiantly get that checked out... Shouldn't be doing that... I know that's never happened to me... Most likely a balance issue

One place balances different than another.

Tire/wheel balancing inconsistency costs car owners tons of money. 10 different garages, 10 different people, on 10 different pieces of equipment, will all balance with slight to huge differences.
It's always been an issue, even with places you trust because sometimes they have one of their guys do it who isn't a perfectionist or is simply not skilled or doesn't care.
What's the solution? I don't have one except to slowly have each tire/wheel balanced one at a time. If you can have it done by two different places. See what happens.
Most places will not give you a print out of the before and after condition, so it's very difficult to really know what's going on.
I almost bought my own balancing machine for this very reason.
