Things are never simple in these modern cars.

Are you saying that neither the remote fob nor the lock lever on the driver's arm rest nor the lock lever on the front passenger side arm rest nor the outside lock button of the driver's door handle nor the outside lock button of the front passenger side door handle will unlock the front passenger door?

Is there any chance moisture somehow got into the mechanism and froze? If none of the five unlocking methods I listed above work, then the problem is either in the front passenger side door mechanics/electronics, or in the car's computer. It could be as simple as a loose wire, or require replacement of parts. The cost will depend on how much work is involved in pinpointing the cause, as well as what parts may need to be replaced and the labor involved in replacing them. That could be a rather wide range.

If unlocking the door via the remote or unlock switch on the driver's side (or from wherever) actually results in the lock lever on the passenger side door popping open as it is supposed to, then the problem is almost surely in the mechanism inside the door, which means removing the interior door lining to reach things, but which probably does not involve the car's computer, and should not be a terribly expensive repair.

This is the first time I have seen this exact problem here on Maxima.org, and I have been here over ten years. I think that is why we haven't seen more posters posting on this thread. Just a very unusual problem.

The door latch mechanism was sticking so my window tint guy took it out and applied a whole lot of liquid wrench and put it all back together and it's working like new and the best part is he only charged me $25, couldn't be any happier...

Really good news. I have not seen this problem on a Maxima before, and was having trouble envisioning how it could happen.
