Thumbs down Braking distance

Does anyone feel the braking distance on the Max is a little excessive along with the ABS being too sensitive? Is this a tire issue or are the stock rotors and pads sub-par?

The real question is, where, how and why are you testing this?

And the even better question... What are you going to do about it

I think the brakes are great for this size/weight of a car. But anything can always be improved, I've upgraded to Hawk HPS pad with drilled/slotted rotors. Stops great!

I agree that under normal driving circumstances the stock brakes perform very good.
They will also experience fade under repetitive hard braking like at the track.

I'm comparing the stopping distance and ABS intervention to my former daily driver, a 2006 Jaguar XJ8 on 255 40 19 Bridgestone three-season tires and the same size rotors. It weighs an extra 200 lbs. The ABS on the Jag rarely activates whereas the Max driven on the same roads does. Also, there have been a few stops that did not instill the same confidence as the Jag. The Max almost feels nervous on sudden stops. I think the stock tires might have a lot to do with this.

upgrade to the 370z Akebono BBK, and I can truly say that my Max stops on a "nickel".. much better feel more confident and looks absolutely stunning. Direct Bolt on..

My '09 Max is over 5 years old, has original tires, brakes, alignment, and not only stops quicker than my previous Maximas (all gens 2nd thru 7th), but is the first vehicle I have driven in 65 years of driving in which every stop is admirably short and buttery smooth, with no sign of pulling to one side or the other, and no sign of vibration or warping or glazing of rotors.

I feel very lucky, as I know some here driving Maximas just like mine have not been as fortunate with their brakes.

That's a sweet brake setup Staggered357. Thanks for the recommendation.

MMmmmm,So calipers bolt up. Do we have to change rotors too?

Will it clear OEM 19"s with no need for a spacer?
