Intermittent white smoke from exhaust
Intermittent white smoke from exhaust
Yes I expect it when it's cold and have seen it but when it's 67f out and foggy no and no other car with a v6 has any exhaust out put of cold vapor . I was just wondering if anyone heard of this yet ? I don't have any head gasket leaks and the 11 sv has 22,000 miles on it and clean carfax with oil changes and regular services at the stealership.
It's just condinsation! I've seen it here even in 70+ degree weather. Part of your catalytic converters job is to turn unburnt hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water, which can cause the same look as vapor in cold weather!

What are you trying to say here? Just kidding, seriously its only condensation, all cars do it. Just today I was behind a Toyota and it was flowing water out the exhaust. Btw, I'm in California and the temperature today was 55 degrees.
On Saturday I took my car to the dealership here to get my oil changed and I mentioned the antifreeze smell to the technician. They checked it out and didn't find anything wrong and my fluid levels were good as well.
I personally am going to get more information such as, under what circumstances the smell is present so I can give the dealership more info to go on if I need to take it further.
In the meantime they've logged it in their system as a complaint, and I would recommend you do the same with your dealer also.
Man, free oil changes, I had lifetime free oil changes at my dealer in KS. Not here in CA unfortunately, the only good thing is that they only cost $40. The other negative is that mid grade gas is almost $1.00 more than what I paid for premium in KS. Good luck with the pressure test.
