Nissan Maxima (Teana) J32 CVT maintenance?

Hi everyone,

I was once a member of Maxima Down under but seems like that forum is now gone.
I am from Melbourne Australia and currently own 2010 Maxima (Teana) J32 250ST-L.
I am just going into 52K kms, and was wondering if the CVT fluid had to be changed.
The reason I ask is because I've asked the same question to the Local Nissan dealer/service department and they all confirmed and said that the CVT I have in the my Maxima is a non maintenance for life of the car?

I had a look into my service schedule and it says to replace hyper-CVT fluid at 60K km? Once again, I think the service sched book is really just a generic global book.

So.. My question is, is the dealer correct? The CVTs in J32 Maxima (Teana) really non maintenance for life of the car?

Any one done 60K km service through the official Nissan dealer be able to tell me this?

Joe....

You can post this in the 7th gen section, but I'm sure it has been covered if you search.

I would NOT listen to the dealership; go ahead and change it as the owners manual suggests.

Someone can chime in and let you know what fluid to use, and the best way to do it, but I'm sure it will be Nissan's fluid recommended.

Welcome to the org!

I have seen several posts of 1st gen Murano owners with 150K+ and still on original fluid.

Interesting that Amsoil has now developed a CVT fluid they claim is equal to or better than Nissan's - and is warranty "secure."

Amsoil can say anything they desire, but the final word on warranty claims comes from Nissan. Unless Nissan publishes in writing that this product will not void the CVT warranty I would stick to what is required by Nissan.

Quite a few folks here on the ORG changed their CVT fluid at 30K miles, but Nissan recommends 60K miles, unless we are driving in rough terrain or on lots of dirt roads or pulling a trailer, or driving very aggressively, etc, etc.

I know most folks here will be changing at 60K miles (I will), but, unless the car is driven very aggressively, or under rough conditions, the fluid would probably be fine well after 60K miles. Just be sure to use fluid that won't void the warranty when you change.
