Just got my windows done
Really wow huh what state are you in? I got the same color car and went 35 up front and 20 in the back, to me it looks like 20 all around. Also the existing solar tint on these windows from the factory although it's not much it gives it an even darker look when tint is added. I'm not worried about getting pulled over but what I do a lot is drive with the sunroof open
Ya I wouldn't worry about it, I've seen people with 5% here in ma drive right by boston cops and stateys and them not paying no mind
That should give you more information concerning the tint laws here. But to sum it all up, the front driver and passenger windows and rear window are only allowed 25%. The rear driver and passenger windows can be anything. The windshield, as long as it is above the AS-1 line, can be anything as well. Oh yeah, there has to be some sticker on the bottom right corner of the driver window which annoys me since some places have a ridiculous looking advertising sticker. When I bought my car, the dealer had already installed the tint on mine and their sticker blends in with the "Nissan Carlex" logo and is inconspicuous. I think I have 25%, I am not sure though but it does comply with DPS laws. You shouldn't run into much trouble here in Houston (city, sheriff, constable, or what have you), it is mainly the State Troopers that will hassle you. YMMV.
I like that! It is super dark however. I'm in Texas. I wonder what the limits are here. I don't think I have any tint on mine. It would look excellent with my roof though.
How much did that run you?[/QUOTE
it was 300 with tax.

Correct. The tint law is only used as a valid reason to stop a vehicle in hopes of finding guns, drugs, etc. Very few cops and I do mean VERY few care about tints for any other reason.
Below is a link to the current state tint laws for the US.

Also, as someone mentioned above this chart has color restrictions, whether they accept medical exemptions and a few other informative stats like windshield info. Most states allow tint on the windshield but only at the AS1 line at the top of the windshield. A few states allow you to go a bit further down and the limits are listed as inches from the top of the windshield going down.
Now is $300 a good price or a normal price?
That's a very broad question to say the least, but with a quality tint that is backed with an installer or factory warranty, then it's a good price. Just ask the installer what tint they're using and do a bit of research on it, but the main point is to just avoid the metallic type of tints. Ceramic tint will provide the best UV protection, but will be on the higher side in terms of cost.
Sorry for the thread-jack OP. Just wanted to say that it definitely looks better as it provides a nice contrast along with your panoramic roof.

Tinted windows adds a great look to your car!
I did 35% on the side windows and 50% on the back. I live in MN so the tint law here is no darker than 50%. Nuts to that. 50% is like having no tint at all. So far, no problems from the pigs.
Price of mines was $190ish after taxes and got a 4 year warranty on any wear n tear, bubbling, and discoloring. IMO you paid $100 too much. I found a lot of places in my state charged about $200 to $250 for tinting. I searched around and found a good deal at $190ish.
Hopefully the place you got your tint done at gave you some type of warranty.
Regardless, the tint looks great on your Max!
I think it was a fair price. It is a ceramic tint called llumar if I remember correctly and it has a lifetime warranty. So I think it was worth it. My wife has the same tint on her Yukon and she has noticed a big difference in the temp of her interior when she leaves work. She has leather seats and being out in the sun all day it got hot.

Just got my 2010 Max done yesterday... I went all out.
Llumar CTX - 30% for sides/back windows... (ceramic)
Llumar Air Blue - for windshield
All in price in Canada - $450.
A little more than I wanted to pay... but a great installer and hopefully a great product... to keep the heat out.
Believe it or not, the sun can get hot in Canada. We aren't just the land of the polar vortex.

Just a note about the llumar Ceramic. I recently had to have my rear "replaced" as it started bubbling after 4+ years. This, of course, necessitates the replacement of the rear window (as removing it removes the defroster traces.) So while the replacement warranty was honored, I'm still out an additional $400 for the rear window!

The glass itself is laminated with the "tint" called Sungate that is produced by PPG. It has that prominent blue appearance when there is direct sunlight (read: UV) on the glass, and reacts accordingly. It is completely glare free and colorless from the inside of the car. The lamination itself is of a metallic base and affects satellite, radio, and radar reception, so MB actually has a cutout on the bottom center and top center of the windshield to presumably house a GPS unit, radar detector, or something that requires outside reception. There are a couple of tint manufacturers out there that can replicate the blue look in a ceramic film, but it is costly.
