Nissan Install

Today I went to my local Nissan dealer and ask how much it would cost to install the following:
-External Ground Lighting
-Fog Lights
-Illuminated Kick Plates
-Rear Deck Lid Spoiler

Parts,Labor,Tax I'm looking at around $1,800. Is that a fair price or could I find equal quality somewhere else?

(I'm leaning towards Nissan install, because who better to work on electrical and drilling than the people who make the car)

Jesus! $1800 for that is pretty steep when you can buy these parts on eBay or so and installing them using write ups

if u got the money then i would say do it. that 1800.00 quote is also for piece of mind knowing that it was installed correctly.

I agree with cali760, $1800 for parts and labor seems fair to me. Personally, I would be comfortable installing everything except the rear deck spoiler.

Just because Nissan installs it doesn't mean it's done right but yes it is still a valid point.

Only the spoiler is something I would get done there...... Try to DIY you might enjoy it. You can spend the extra $1k on accessories etc... Get the weather tech mats.

Uh... Do the fog lights and the kick plates yourself.
I thought the bumper would be really hard to take off and too much work, but after I fiddled with it a bit, it was quite easy. There are write-ups on how to do this.
The kick plates are probably just pop-off old ones, snake some where around, and tap into the foot-well lights. Also extremely easy.

If you are slightly more adventurous, do the exterior lighting yourself too.
I have done that myself, though I did not use the Nissan OEM "puddle" lighting, and went for my own design. I should do a write up sometime.
If you search a bit, there is a thread on here that has factory instructions on how to install the exterior lighting.

Spoiler does require drilling the trunk lid, so I would probably go with Nissan install for that one.

Of the 4 installs the spoiler would be the easiest one as I've put on on my other max and it took less than 2 hours with a lunch break. Nothing complicated about setting up and drilling holes.

Agreed. One simple wiring mistake can lead to god knows what problems. Better to pay the dealer to do it so they can only blame themselves should something go wrong.

They are all easy jobs. I did the spoiler (4 hours labor), kick plates (45 minutes labor, pop off old ones, pop on new ones, tap powers wires) and had the dealer do the ground lighting ($108 parts, 4 hours labors but charged me only their upfront quote of $150 for labor). I also did the remote start and it took all of 2 hours and only one wire to tap. Not all Nissan mechanics are experts just like not all do it your selfers are competent. If you have average mechanical and electrical skills you can do these jobs just as well as the dealer.
