high output alternator

Hey guys does anyone know where I can get a 2010 Maxima 3.5 L high output alternator, I need one because I did some car audio work and now my headlights dim like crazy, Even after I did the Big 3 Upgrade they still dim, so I am looking into getting a high output alternator and replacing my stock battery with a better one and adding a second one as well. Thanks

The stock alternator shouldn't have any problems unless you added something crazy.

Do you have a good, solid grounding point? That is usually where most of the problems come from.

I did a quick search and found lots of them. It all depends on what you want and what you can afford.

3000W RMS or peak?

If peak, then the most your amp could draw would be 125 amps.
No need for a new alternator as you are still under the output of the factory one.

If RMS, then an upgrade is more warranted, but would probably be better served with a second battery and an isolater.

I am sorry that was my other amp that was bad I replaced it with a 1600 rms one I was looking around and saw a few things that explained the amps and stuff I have a 130 amp alt and I read that it charges at 14.4 v so that gives me 1800 watts 40% is used by my car so that leaves me with 748 watts and my amp has 80 % efficency making the amp at 1280 watts now I am negative 400 not sure if that's right but that's the math I read about amps I was looking to upgrade to at least a 270 amp alt

The numbers game can be kind of confusing.

Most amps are regulated. So, you may charge at 14.4, but the amp is only using 12V. There are a few companies that make unregulated amps, and you would know if you have one. Some people call them cheater amps.

1600W/12V= 133 amps peak usage for the amp. You can also look at the fuses on the amp to figure out the true power draw.
80% efficiency could potentially then drop it to 106A current draw.

That would be the usage with your stereo and your amp turned all the way up. How often do you drive around for long periods like this?
40% usage by your car is generally when you are driving around with the AC on.

The question is this. What is your purpose. If you plan to blast it at full volume for long periods of time, then go ahead and upgrade.

If you only use full volume to show off occasionally, and maybe do burps at competition, then you don't really need a bigger alternator.
A second battery would be more beneficial.

If you want to spend the $600+ on a good high wind alternator, go ahead. I just don't see the need.

My last car used a 140A alternator. It ran 2800W RMS with no problems. I used 2 Kinetic light weight batteries and hit 152dB with two 15" subs.

Singer, Iraggi, or DC are some of the best among the audio community. You will pay a pretty price for them but they are worth it.

Hey man, I know it's been 8 years but did you end up getting a high output alternator? If so which one?. I have an 09 maxima SV with two evl 12s, 3000 watt amp, dual AGM batteries, big 4 all 0 gauge, skar equalizer, and a JS alternator 390 amp alternator. Just curious what you did. I don't know one person that has this car and did any electrical upgrades. Like I said, its been 8 years since you posted but figured I'd give it a shot. You may even have the car still. Lol
