Retractable sunroof shade broke (pics included)...anybody else?
My retractable sunroof shade broke on my 09' Maxima the other day. There is a black plastic clip that slides along a track and one of those clips broke, which has left it not working and looking like an old, crappy car with the headliner hanging down
Nissan parts dept. says I can't order just that clip..have to get the whole shade assembly (couple hundred bucks for part plus labor). Seems like such a waste when everything is good except for one of those clips.
Has any body else had a similar issue by chance?

Go to www.courtesyparts.com and type in sunroof parts in the search field and I think you will find what you need. I would post the link but haven't figured that out yet.
I looked it up in there...seems to just be the whole assembly. I would give them a call.

black plastic clip
Ive never seen that happen on a maxima, but I have seen it on other cars and ive actually made the clip myself (have access to a machine shop). never really looked at how its held but may be able to figure out a way to get some of these clips made if anyone else has the same issue also. keep me posted if you find something.
Thanks for the replies everyone! I still haven't had any luck finding just the clip. Called my local Nissan dealership just to see what they'd say about labor charges to put the whole sunroof visor kit if I decided to bite the bullet and buy it. They said it depends on it they had to pull the whole headliner down. If so, could be as much as 6 hrs labor! If not, maybe 3. Pretty sure pulling the headliner is not a 3 hr job for them so I think that would be highway robbery. It's making me want to pull the headliner down myself and see how feasible it would be for me to install the new kit...can't see it being rocket science, especially since I've got the old one I can look at before removing. But also would hate to get in over my head. Just no way I can deal with the driver's side visor laying down on my head like it is currently. Won't even stay up on the track without that clip.
Anybody ever pulled their headliner? Is it a pain or not too bad?
