Passenger Airbag light

Hey guys I remember seeing there brought up somewhere briefly in the past not sure if anyone had an exact answer though. Does anyone know if there is a specific weight associated with the passenger airbag? When I have friends sit there its fine but when my wife sits there it works intermittently going on and off, any ideas or should I get it checked out? Thanks in advance for input!

It's designed to turn off for young kids, I'm sorry I don't know the exact weight but I'd assume between 50-100 lbs..

I could not find specific weights in the factory service manual. I think they failed to include that information on purpose.

About 130 lbs according to this article.

Maybe the Maxima requires a recall for software update also.

That would be me. The salesman brought out the service tech that was very informative of the situation, and told me that the weight limit is 105 pounds and it also takes the seating position into account. The owner's manual actually says the same thing I believe, but what scared me was that they did bring up the fact a lot of other models are affected. Per the recall announcement provided by Nopike, they also stated the build date on my car (April 2014 if I remember) should have resolved the issue. The build date and other tech information sticker is located at the bottom of the B-pillar when you open the driver side door.

Now does this mean the issue was fixed because they said it was by Nissan? No, the light still comes on. Just haven't had the time to bring it in and I rarely have a passenger in the car anyway. Call the dealer and provide them the VIN to run a recall check. I will be bringing the car back to them soon.
