BOOH...good or bad?

I'm noticing something more and more with my 11 sv. Some days it acts like a suzuki swift, and others like an F1. Today i noticed under a moderate pull from a red light to about 55ish that the rpms stay around 4k for like 10 seconds and then gradually drop. It's almost as if the max is tempting me saying go ahead, hit me again. Although this is ideal for the highway, i dont necessarily like it on city streets. I know how the cvt is designed, just wondering if anyone else noticed this because im still burning fuel at that rpm.

BOOH is for bat out of hell, something my max likes to think it is sometimes.

The cvt adapts to your driving style. If you push the car often the cvt will adapt and become more responsive as a result. If you're a slow poke the car's computer will tame the car down a bit to reflect your driving. Perhaps this is why your car was tempting to or rather staying at a hight rpm in case you decided to floor it again.

I ALWAYS notice this with my 2010 SV. The CVT is crazy temperamental. Sometimes - very light throttle causes it to rev really high (try punching the gas to the floor and see what happens....it's impressive).

Other days - you can darn near floor it and it just barely hits 4000rpm.

Don't have any idea what causes this. It has nothing to do with it "learning" your driving styles. It just does this at random.

There is over 600 "shift" algorithm's built into it's little silicon brain - it can't get it right 100% of the time.

Late,
Trav

ya mine does that too. One time i drove to the track like a grandma and ran my first time that night. Car took off slow and rpms slowly climbed and by the end of the 1/4 mile mark i was sitting at 5500 rpms and ran 15.0@95mph. The 2nd run my car learned my agressive driving style and after launch my rpms shot to 6500-6600 rpms instantly and pulled good with a 14.2@99mph.

I have a 2014 exactly the same way. I can't figure how to control it. Sometimes it pulls forward on its own, with me barely pressing the pedal, and sometimes i push pretty deep without much response. Subaru has much better throttle control and CVT behaviour. Very TRUE response. The only thing on subaru CVT that's a joke is the manual shift more. It takes forever, and I mean more than a second, maybe 2 seconds, for the ratio shift to complete. On my max its an almost instant and quick jerk.. you can actually use it.

Absolutely have noticed this behavior. Some days I like to lean into it a bit and it seems to take a few stabs at the accelerator to get the cars attention. Other days, early in the morning when I'm not likely to lean into it, it seems to be more than willing to rev out. Also those days when it seems happy not to rev above 1,500.....

yea it seems to be much more responsive if you ease into it. if you stomp it, it goes into economy mode or something
