Angry Two interesting issues....

Hi All,

I have been browsing these forums for quite some time now. First off, let me just say that all of you guys on this forum are awesome. The wealth of knowledge on this site from its users is extremely helpful, especially to a DIY guy like me. Last year I picked up a 2010 Maxima SV loaded, and I could not be happier. But I have two issues that I could really use some help on.

First Issue:
Installed a system that I took out of my old car, 2-Alpine Type-Rs in a sealed box. Ran all the wiring and installed a LOC. The amp turns on and everything, but the minute I higher the volume, and not very high at all might I add, the amp turns off. It does not go in to protect mode or anything, it literally just turns off. I try messing with all the settings and the gains on the LOC. Can't figure it out. Already tried changing the ground, still same issue. I also exchanged the LOC converter thinking it may be faulty. Any ideas? Also, where did you audiophile guys ground your system on the Maxima?

Second Issue:
I ordered switchback LEDS from iJDMToys and installed them. All was working great up until about 2 weeks ago. The turns signals flash properly, but they do not switch back. I narrowed the issue down to the fuse for the parking lamps. I replaced the fuse and turn the lights on, and they immediately pop the fuse. Tried putting in another fuse, same results. It seems odd to me that it would work fine and then some how randomly develop a short. Any ideas on this?

Thanks for your help in advance!

I'm not sure about the audio question, but for the switchbacks, take back those junk iJdmToys switchbacks and grab the VLEDS V3 Tritons. They are bright and are completely plug and play.

Yea...I was assuming the same thing. I contacted iJDMToys and they said the bulbs were out of warranty. Whomp whomp. I'll just swap them out for the regular bulbs for now. Hopefully that solves the issue. I was worried there was a bigger electrical issue.

Nah I believe it's a defect in the bulb itself.

You got the sv im assuming you have the Bose system, what wire did u tap into for the remote wire? What color? Also for the ground I removed the back seat, there's two tabs in the front you pull out and the seat comes off easily. From there I removed one of the seat belt bolts, sanded down the metal and bolted the belt backdown with the ground wire

I grounded the system to the bolt which holds down the backing of the back seat. I believe I tapped the remote wire into the black/red wire. I am going off of memory so I may be wrong. The amp turns on, it just turns off the minute there is some sort of bass lol. Would you be able to provide me with the wires you tapped into, assuming you are using a LOC? And yes, I do have an SV. Thanks for the help guys. Really appreciate it.

While looking at the schematics of the wiring, I think I may have messed up on the audio signals...

I tapped into the output signals for the subwoofer on the bose amp. Is this correct? If someone would be nice enough to give me the colors they tapped into, that would be great

The service manual has the pinout for Audio Signal LH twice...I am so confused now.

Thanks Tommy. After looking at that, he tapped into the wires that are directly art the speaker. I tapped into the wires at the harnesses that go into the bose amp. Would this make a difference?

The difference is high level or low level signal.
Before the amp would be low level, and would not require a LOC, just a converter from wire to RCA plugs. At the speaker is high level, and would need the loc.

Does the amp have a protection mode, or light? Does the amp have separate high/low inputs or is it a switch?

If high level is fed into a low level input, it could fry the amp, and would trigger protection mode.

Well, the amp does exactly go into protection mode, which it does have a light for. It just turns off. But that may be my problem since my LOC is before the amp. Maybe I will swap it today to the speaker side and see if that solves my problem. Thanks for the explanation.

sorry I've been busy and didn't get a chance to respond, yes you want to connect to the speaker side, should solve your issue, for the hell of it what kind of loc are you using? Some of them are junk

I am using the PAC Audio LP3-2. I asked a few shops around my area and they said it was a good one.

So I finally got around to fixing my wiring issue. Turns out I wired the inputs to the wrong side of the harness. Yep...that happened. After rewiring though, I am still noticing a similar issue. After I get the volume to a certain point, my amp turns off. It does not go into protect mode, but rather the power LED just shuts off. My capacitor stays on and never loses power though. Anybody ever experience something like this? I am hoping that I am just overpowering it and just need to tune it, but would love your guys input. This isn't my first install so I'm not a complete noob and have more then enough DIY experience. I checked all the obvious stuff like grounds and etc. Basically, when a song hits a nice bass note, the amp shuts off.

What amp are you using to power the subs? What gauge power/ground are you using? Do you have the power cable fused and have you checked the fuse and fuse holder if so?

The AMP is a DLS 1000W amp. The wiring is 4 gauge. I know I have power because the capacitor stays on. Fuse and everything are in order. It is only when I crank up the volume the amp turns off. Any song with some nice bass basically triggers it.

Try turning down the bass on head unit if it's up, and lowering the gain on the amp...see if that helps

Did that. I started messing with the LOC gain and even at minimal it poops out. My buddy owns a audio shop and has worked with plenty of Max's in the past. I am gonna swing by his shop this weekend before I throw my subs out of my parking garage lol.
