TPMS from eBay

Has anyone bought TPMS sensors from ebay? I need a new set to replace the failing sensors that came with my 09. I found these and I need a second opinion, or third. I am a little worried because they're coming from China... but they are new and it does say OEM.

If anyone can weigh in I would appreciate it.

I think this is what you want, it ships from the greatest country in the world and from a more reputable seller.

I'd be skeptical if I had to replace mine but being that both items cost less than $70 dollars I would definitely take a chance on the ones made in the USA. I say get them and hope for the best, it's better than going to the dealership. Just be sure to have a tire shop install them.

Can non dealership repair shops install them? If so, can they also program them or do I need to take it to nissan for that after being installed

I know that Green and Ross here in Ontario can install and program TPMS units.

If I buy these now for install in spring will I be wasting battery time. Are they switched on or off. I Don't know how the sensors function?

Thank you! Yes this is definitely a better option of the two. Much appreciated.

I am going to have them installed on my summer tires and try to set it myself using the DIY method found in these forums, which appears to be successful. If all else fails, I will pay a visit to Active Green + Ross.

Blue Bomber, I'm not 100% sure but I think they have a plastic battery safety tab that is pulled once they get installed. According to my service dept the battery is good for about 4 to 5 years.

I was talking to the guys at Discount Tire about my new rims and whether I want to buy new TPMS sensors or just swap the ones from my current tires. He said Discount Tire can definitely program the TPMS sensors to the car as long as they aren't blanks (Nissan OEM should have an ID programmed from the factory). Blanks are TPMS sensors that have to be programmed with a unique ID before they will work with the car. Yes, all TPMS sensors have to be turned on, but this is a completely different process than programming a unique ID. Pretty much all programming machines can turn on all TPMS sensors and program them to almost any car. However, only certain programming machines can program IDs to blank TPMS sensors and they are usually brand specific. He also said when buying new TPMS sensors, make sure they come with the installation hardware because different brands have unique installation kits. If I was you, I would pay the extra money and buy some OEM TPMS sensors WITH a hardware kit. They range about $120 for a set on eBay and Amazon.
You don't have to take it to the stealership and use the consult machines. Discount Tire charges about $40 a pop for Dorman or Schrader aftermarket sensors which isn't too bad. I might just do it through them for warranty purposes.

Good info mjhuffer, I'm taking my car in tomorrow to get my center console tightened and I'm having them rotate my tires as well. So I'll ask my tpms questions at that time.
