Rear Shocks KYB

Hello Maxima Family,

I've been part of the forums for quite sometime, took a break from the VQ - couldn't be apart any longer. Picked up a 2011 maxima SV about 7 months ago. Happy to be back!

Alright here's my problem:

I replaced both rear shocks with KYB Excel G's since I was experiencing a bouncy ride. Car drove great for a couple days, till the left rear shock broke - leaked all the oil. Replaced it and drove the car for a couple days again - the left rear broke again. Now this is going to be the third time replacing the same gas shock absorber. I don't know what to do - the right shock has no problems, and I am having a mechanic install them.

Do I need to buy the shock mounting kit from Nissan? I think I read somewhere on the forums the KYB kit that comes with the shocks are not good? Any and all help appreciated for an ol' timer!

Thanks..

Stick with nissan parts my friend. It will pay off in the long run. Plus, you're right. KYB is crap

Tokico were the OEM shocks on my old max. I replaced those with the Tokico blues, which was the equivalent. Those were good struts/shocks, worked great with the H&R springs. I've used KYB AGX in the past...won't be using a KYB product again.

Going to be replacing mine soon....going to see what options are out there.
