Factory HID headlights keep them on??
Factory HID headlights keep them on??
Hi everyone,
Just purchased a 2014 Nissan Maxima SV. The factory HID lights turn on when it gets darker out. And during the day time, it switches to the ugly yellow halogen lights.
Is there a way to ALWAYS keep the factory HID lights on? I hate seeing the halogen lights come on.
Thanks guys

I always want to keep the light **** to "AUTO". So if I take out the DTRL I assume it just won't have any lights?
I want the HID lights to always be on when in AUTO mode. I know I can turn the **** all the way and it'll be HID 24/7. But the problem with that is that I have to manually switch it off or back to auto when I turn off the engine and it's not convenient.
Is there a way to keep HID running while on AUTO mode on the ****?
Thanks, appreciate your reply

There is an optical sensor built into one of the front speaker grills. On top of the dash. Just cover it with tape and it will always think it is dark. You can also try disconnecting the sensor wiring. That may also cause the sensor signal to be interpreted as dark. After removing the speaker grill the sensor and it's wiring can be easily accessed.

I know that daytime running lights are a safety feature and all but I've never been a fan of them. To me, it's just more bulbs that the dealer can charge you big bucks to change/repair. The LEDs are supposed to last a long time but I've seen quite a few fairly new Audis or BMWs where the DRL on one side is out-- this would drive me crazy!
Most DRL's that do not use LED's use the hi beams at half power. That is why they look orange. These high beam bulbs generally last a long time and are cheap and easy to replace.
Although I do not like the orangeish look of the lights I wired the hi beams on my US vehicle to work just like Canadian Maximas'. They may not be the best looking DRL's but they are highly visible. This seemed like the most efficient and effective method to add DRL's to my car. I added the DRL's because the safety aspect of the lights is worth it to me.
I added a switch to my DRL's so I can always turn them off if I feel like it. Unlike Canada, DRL's are not mandatory here in the US.
