Tinted windows

So I go my a new ('12) Maxima SV Sport yesterday, it's so great!! but...the windows are tinted, which I am not too crazy about. Do most of you like the tinted windows or not so much? opinions?

The dealer (not a Nissan dealer), was saying I can get the tint removed but the back 2 windows and the back windshield came that way from Nissan, not real sure what that means, can I NOT have them removed?

thanks!!

the maxima doesn't come with factory tint. The dealer may mean not t remove the tint on the rear window due to the rear defroster wires. You may damage them.

Having said that, I LOVE tinted windows. Every car I own will havetinted windows. I wouldn't go any darker then 35% though. Anything darker and I can see it being a problem... Do you know how dark yours are?

I think most people on this forum like tinted windows. I believe the 7th gen actually looks better when the windows are tinted. This comes from someone who has never had tinted windows and did not like them. I am now considering having my windows tinted. I believe the only real drawback to having tinted windows is that if they are too dark it can make it more difficult to see at night. Otherwise you should rock the tinted windows, they make the car look better.

If you are in the southern part of the country tinted windows are often a necessity.

Thanks to you both! How would I find out what % of tint they are? I would send pic if I knew how to on this site. I live in Chicago, so not really the south. I'll give it a couple weeks, maybe the tint will grow on me.

The tint drastically helps with summer heat, and prevents degradation of the interior.
I credit tint with the leather in my cars never cracking or drying out.

I LOVE my tinted windows and get them on all my cars, I like how with tinted windows people dont worry about you, they take one look and keep it moving, imo with tinted windows people just leave you alone.

Horrible!

I'm considering tint on my Max. Currently, it's bare and it does get hot! With the pano roof I think it would make my car look better but I am just cautious of all those shops with bad reputations around here. Should I just take it to the dealer?

Dealer probably outsources the work and charges you a markup.

i remember i rented a max once a few years ago and twice people walked up to me one guy asked me for $ i realized that it was because the car had no tints people are a lot more comfortable approaching you... with all my cars with tints I dont have to worry about that.

Maybe I should tint my Max to the max then. So many walk up daily here in Houston. I do want to get it for the rear and have a little darker on the front doors. That would be a better contrast with the roof and car color.

First, try calling tint shops that are close to car dealers. You can try mentioning you were referred to that tint shop by the stealership to get some great deal or whatever. If the tint shop is smart, you'll get a % off and if not just keep moving.

Second, I had to get tinted windows because silver wasn't my first color choice but the dark tint does help even out the look (if that even means anything) and as people say in the summer tint does help block out the heat. There's also a clear UV blocker tint film. You can even get some clear tint that adds a slight blue tint or stick with 100% clear but UV blocking to knock out the summer heat.

Lastly, it's more my opinion but the tinted windows offers a little more privacy. People can't just glance right into your car..while driving or parked. BUT the downside is the LAW! Be ready to flip down both front windows if you think a cop is looking.
