Hitch

Need one for my 2012. Will never hold a trailer, just a bicycle rack.

Recommendations and places to buy? What is install like?

Took my camry to Uhaul when I needed a hitch installed on it. I think it was between $200-300 all said and done, including the wiring harness which you wouldn't need. Not something I would've done myself since I'm not a welder nor do I know any.

I used it to tow a full uHaul trailer once upon a time for a 500 mile drive from PA to CT. Also used it for a bicycle rack. Never had an issue.

The install took 'em a few hours.

If you want to entertain the possibility of someone else doing it then perhaps put Uhaul on your list of places to call for quotes.

I noticed E Trailer had a bunch for ~$150. They all require drilling, and some require the removal of the exhaust. I like spinning wenches, but I'm not stoked about drilling into my car. That's not a bad price for full install.

Found an installation guide on UHaul's site - looks like it's on par with other stuff you've found. Removal of exhaust and bolted.

Edit: Did a quote for my 2013 here in Connecticut.

So without the wiring harness (unless they throw out some bull**** about how they're legally obligated to install it or some crap) You'd be just under $300 - at least here in CT.

Also: I saw that if you order it online there's a $10 coupon off of installation - http://www.uhaul.com/discounts/

Am I reading correctly that it's only $56 for the actual install of the hitch?

A local shop installed one for me Corbin's in Charleston, SC. I have a Thule 4 bike hauler. Hitch scrapes over humps when the car is loaded.

Curt Trailer Hitch - Kuat

I purchased the following from etrailer.com a couple years ago.

No drilling required.

Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Class I -1 1/4"

It took maybe 30 minutes to install. IIRC, I removed the heat shields.

I use it for my Kuat bike rack.

I'm an inspector for lease returns, and drilling any holes on a chassis is considered an automatic failed inspection by the banks and finance company's. I would not do it on a lease nor would I think of doing that to my personal ride(just saying ). There are other alternatives to attaching a bike rack to your precious ride. Drilling holes to the chassis of any vehicle is considered a degradation of integrity by financial institutions. Hope you find a non invasive alternative. Good Luck!

I have a hidden hit h on my 14. It was close to $400 installed with the wiring harness. I have towed my jet ski many times with it, works perfectly.

I watched the video where they installed this hitch on a 2014 Altima. Aren't those heat shields there for a reason. Looked like the exhaust pipes ran along the side of the gas tank. Removing those heat shields doesn't sound safe.

Also they took the protective cover that goes over the gas tank and said that they are leaving it off as part of the hitch install. Maybe it's just me, but I would want the extra protection against possible punctures to the tank...
