A few months ago when I took my car for an oil change they said that the heat shield needs to be replaced and now it has gotten worse because I always hear rattling noises.. They quoted me around $100 to get it fixed at the nissan dealership. What exactly is the heat shield and where can I find the part so I can have my mechanic fix it for me for cheap ?

 

You don't need it. You can either buy a $2 hose clamp to hold it still or just pull it off.

 

Yeah you were right the guy that I took my car to for something else said the same thing and one of them was already missing anyway so he just pulled the other one off too and I think it's better now
