Manually programming TPMS

So I saw a post here on the forum about manually programming your tire sensors but I didn't quite understand how to do that and I decided to open a new thread because the other one is too old and this way it's easier to focus on my main question and I don't think the guy even comes on this forum anymore
This is the link to the topic
https://maxima.org/forums/7th-genera...eset-tool.html
and if you scroll down to Juggernaut23's post you will see this post
After visiting the dealer today to reset/program my 19" sport wheels I just put on I observed what the Tech was doing I went home and did further investigating. Here is what I found.

It seems that every Nissan/Infiniti Equipt with OEM Schrader TPMS you can RESET/RELEARN anytime you want.

Step 1: Set the tires to the following pressures, they have to be exact:

Tire position Tire pressure kPa (kg/cm2, psi)
Front LH 240 (2.4, 34)
Front RH 220 (2.2, 31)
Rear RH 200 (2.0, 29)
Rear LH 180 (1.8, 26)

Step 2: Locate the TPMS interface plug. This is a white female plug that is attached to the OBD II wire loom under the dash right about where your left knee would be when sitting in the driver's seat. You may have to cut the tape that is holding the TPMS interface plug to the OBD II wire loom.I found mine 4 inches up and to the left inside the fuse box near your left knee.It is very short versus other vehicles I looked at.

Step 3: Attach a paper clip or wire into the interface plug.

Step 4: Put your key in the ignition and turn it to the last click before the engine starts.Or push the push start button twice. This is the KOEO position (Key On, Engine Off).

Step 5: Tap the end of the paper clip on any exposed ground (metal) 6 times within 10 seconds of turning ignition on.Make sure it is a real ground and not just any metal you find.

Step 6: If you completed step 5 then the TPMS warning light will start to slowly flash and you have activated the TPMS relearn process. If it flashes fast that's not right. If yours isn't flashing slowly then check your connections, turn the ignition off and start over at step 4.

Step 7: Once you confirm the lights do not stop flashing, step on the brake and start the car. Do not turn the car to OFF position. Start driving >25mph until the light goes out. It could take as long as ten minutes.

Step 8: The light will quickly come back on due to the low tire pressures. Refill your tires to the correct pressure.

Step 9: MODS,PEASE make this a sticky!And give me a thanks
My question is where exactly do you put the paper clip?
Here is a picture of the only plug that I could find and the same one where the dealer would plug in their tool

And here is a picture of it from the inside

I have no clue what I need to attach the paper clip to please help me! Pictures would be very helpful too!

Basically u need to ground the wire that they are referring to step 2 and 3. U don't need a paper clip. What I did instead was I stuck a thin gauge wire into the interface plug and grounded the other end of the wire.

EXCELLENT INFORMATION! I will try this and confirm. I have the Autoenginuity Nissan package and can read TPMS tire pressures from RH LH front and rear. Cool. Kind of stupid of Nissan to tell you that a tire is low but not WHICH tire. The computer know which tire but it doesnt tell you...

Probably hoping you will take it to dealer for diagnosis...

Where is that wire that they are referring to in step 2 and 3? And you stuck a wire into which plug? The one that I showed in the pictures? And if so does it matter which hole you stick the wire in?

The one you show in the picture is the obd2 plug. The tpms plug is on that loom, father up.

Take a look at the wt section of the fsb. It gives great instructions and shows where the plug is located. It is easier to lower the lower dash, just 1 screw and a clip. I could never get to it without doing so. There is even a diagram procedure that will tell you which sensor or component is bad as well as the complete reset/relearn proc....you just ground the lead for a bit to go into diag mode and count the "flashes" it helped me find which tpms sensor was bad eventhough the tire shop couldn't find the issue!

Okay so I found the correct plug and I can confirm that this works... The only thing is, after the light turned off, it didn't turn back on due to the low tire pressure so I am not even sure if my new sensors work, but oh well at least now I won't have to look at this annoying light.

Mine did the same, turned out the road heat took the pressure up. Next morning, I let pressure out of one of the tires and it reported correctly and went back off within 10 mins of filling it back up.
