Hello folks,
I have a 2014 maxima with 10K miles on it.
So I have heard that the fluid lasts a lifetime so at 10K miles which is when the oil change is due I almost said eh I'm sure it's all topped off. Yeah right, it was at the low mark with only 10K miles. What the heck is up with that?
So I went to the dealer and bought a quart and when they told me how much it was for that damn stupid quart of oil, I lost it. $22?? Are you frigging kidding me?
Anyone else has experienced low CVT fluid in their new maxima?

Make sure you check the fluid this way.
1. Make sure CVT fluid is at normal operating temperature (about 10 min of driving on a warm day.)
2. Park on a level surface and apply the parking brake firmly.
3. Move the gear selector through the entire range while holding foot on brake. Place transmission in P or N.
4. Pull out the CVT fluid level gauge after pressing on tab to release the lock.
5. Wipe fluid off the CVT fluid gauge (they specifically say use lint free paper, not cloth!) and insert into fill pipe, rotating 180 degrees from originally installed position. Insert firmly, all the way until CVT gauge meets the top of the fill pipe.
6. Remove CVT fluid gauge and make sure fluid level is within specified range.
7. Reinstall CVT fluid gauge in the fill pipe in original position, making sure it is
securely locked.
The cost for a quart is about right although it can be found a little cheaper online. Make sure it is Nissan NS-2.
For what it worth the CVT oil is not lifetime and is recommended to be changed at the 60.000 mile interval.

Thanks for the post. I did do it like that excpept I drove it for only 5 min as the car was idling for a while warming up till fans came on.

CVT Fill
Follow these directions to the letter it is VERY easy to overfill this transmission and the fluid will foam and cause all kinds of problems. I doubt your fluid is low at all at this point, the level is very temperature dependent and am I am guessing it was not fully warmed up when you read the level. Be very careful to not overfill or you will have issues during highway driving with foaming.
