How much do you want to spend?
The RacingLine is the best bang for the buck, but there are two other brands that are stainless instead of aluminized steel, and both cost a lot more.

what is the difference between the stainless and the aluminized ? does it affect the performance or the piece itself ? its a new car so i rather have something good.

Aluminized is cheaper, and more prone to rust. If you live in the south, this isn't really an issue. Up north, two or three years and you may see rust. The RacingLine is 2.5", while the other two are 3".

None of them by themselves change the sound of the exhaust much, as the stock mufflers and resonator are good at what they do.

They are all good, and provide about 10 wheel hp. The RacingLine having a smaller diameter helps with keeping some low end torque that a few people have felt change.

The RL is about $300, where the AAM is under $500, and the MD is over $500.
The MD is the nicest, but you probably won't see the performance for the $$. You are paying for the engineering and welds.

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it. Going to look into the AAM and the MD. I don't want to deal with the Rust. Good to know , thanks again.

I've been recently looking into Y-pipe options, and came across a few posts for RacinglinePerformance. It appears their Y-pipe is also Stainless, as per their website.

"Specially made using full stainless steel construction, this performance Y Pipe is dyno proven to see gains of 13hp to the wheels on an otherwise stock Maxima!!"

I'm new to these vehicles, so maybe they recently changed to Stainless, from Aluminized. Or maybe they're lying.

Probably changed to stainless to stay competitive.
That is good for everyone.

thanks, I'm going to look into it. Not trying to deal with rust so going to go with the stainless regardless. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Or if it's not stainless you can get some header paint and paint it. That will protect it from any rust issues.

?? What the heck are you talking about??????

RacingLine is stainless steel, it's just a 409 grade instead of 304. Stainless steel can actually rust (409) because it has a lower chromium content.

And two other YPipes?? Where????

I've looked up and down for this AAM one and cannot find it. Only ones available to my knowledge is the RacingLine and the Motordyne.

Please let me know where you're getting your information from cause I'm going crazy trying to figure out what your talking about..

Lol idk what he's talking about but RacingLine has always been stainless steel. There are multiple grades to stainless steel but the two most common are 304 and 409. Contrary to the name stainless steel does rust but unlike aluminum steel it will not rust through, only on the outside coating.

304 will give you that car show shine and will more than likely never rust because it is high in chromium content.

409 will just rust on the outside but will never rust through because it is still a stainless steel and has chromium content, but less of it.

Under high heat 409 will do slightly better because of the less chromium content but they are both 10x better than aluminum steel.

Honestly you can't go wrong with the RacingLine and I doubt that the Motordyne is adding anymore HP or TQ so it ultimately comes down to what you want to pay for something you'll rarely ever see cause it's underneath your car lol.

And again! There are only two available YPipes to my knowledge because AAM has not ventured into making any YPipe for our cars to delete our third unmetered Catalytic Converter.

Racingline uses 409 Stainless steel, that is why it discolors and has a slight magnetic property. Its the same material OEMs use when they claim "stainless steel exhaust". It builds surface scale on it that looks like rust but its not. It's like when a copper penny turns green... it'll clean up/ rub off. There is no real world benefit to 304 other than its shiny.
