Intermittent Intelligent Key Issues
Intermittent Intelligent Key Issues
Hey guys. For about the past month or so, the Intelligent Key system has been exhibiting some strange behavior intermittently. This is a 2011 Maxima SV. I've replaced the battery in both my key fobs and have tested both fobs and the issue occurs with both fobs. In my mind, that had effectively ruled out any battery/fob related concerns.
What's happening is that the information display is randomly displaying the message "Key Not Detected". I'll be sitting in the car with it running, key in my pocket with nothing else in that pocket and the message will just randomly pop up on the screen buy will typically disappear within a few seconds.
Other times, I'll be getting into the car to start it up and it won't start with the key not detected message being shown. I never have an issue with door unlocks/locks or trunk releases. One thing I did notice that may or may not be related but this seems to only occur when the door is open. At work, I sometimes sit in my car with it running (when it's super cold or hot) and I've never noticed that message pop up when the door is closed. I'm not sure if the system just doesn't check for the key to be present when the car is running and the door closed but thought it was worth mentioning.
Any of you guys had similar issues? Any suggestions or insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.
P.S. Here's a link to a video of the issue happening:

Edit: Just wanted to add that I've searched this and other forums feverishly and was only able to find suggestions to "reprogram" the FOB, but the procedures that were given did not help in my situation.

I had that issue with my 11 also a couple years back. What brand battery did you use in your fob? I had problems with cheaper batteries, but when i got a duracell battery never had that problem again.
Appreciate the reply.
I actually used Energizers. I just bought this car back in March of this year. I took it into my local Nissan dealership for a once over and they had actually replaced the batteries in the FOBs and the car battery at that time. I replaced the ones Nissan used with the Energizers.
