7th Generation Maxima Steering Rack

7th Generation Maxima Steering Rack
Context: About a year ago, the steering pump failed on the Maxima. We had it replaced at the dealership since we had some other work done under warranty. Fast forward to a week or two ago and the rack started leaking. Since it may or may not have been related to the steering pump which was replaced last year (2 year parts warranty), we took it back to the dealership. After cleaning it up, topping off the fluid, we agreed with the dealership to take it back and bring it in after a couple weeks to see if it is still leaking, and if so, how much.
So it's been a week and the rack is really leaking. Nice little puddle on the garage floor. Flow seems to be increasing.
After doing a search on here, there weren't any steering rack threads or reports of 7th gen vehicles with leaky racks.
If anyone has any experience with one, please share your experience; e.g. cost (labor + parts), rebuilt vs. new rack, etc.
Since the vehicle is out of warranty, I'll be pricing our options. Thanks!

I noticed a slight leak near the outer tie rod boot on our 2009 Murano. Dealer confirmed and replaced the whole thing under extended warranty. Told me it was over $2k. A new rack and pinion will be around $1k in parts alone, more from the dealer. I think I saw a remanufactured complete unit for around $300. Sorry that wasn't much help.
