Advice on Trade

I currently have a 13 extremely base model. With nearly 67,000 miles. It has been in an accident a year ago (rear ended) (has been fixed and wasn't my fault.). At a local dealer, there is a 13 sport (with navigation, heated seats, backup camera and some other add ons) $19,000, 25,000 miles and carfax states 1 owner and no problems. Maintenance up to date ect. Long story short, Would it be worth it to upgrade for a little bit more to the more luxurious, better looking model, Im not a fan yet so i don't want to get a 2016. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys!

I would say absolutely. I have bought 3 7th gens and upgraded over the previous. The last 2 I still own and one is an SV sport and tech package with my 14 being the sport tech and colored 19" wheels. Check your finance and do your due diligence but I would say yes if you want nice things like a heated steering wheel, HIDs, cooled seats etc. I won't buy a car without those first two which were on my first '04 max. Good luck and I will have to say the 8th gen is not worth it yet. Looked on their section and it seems like no one is buying it and they aren't discounting it and plus I can't get over the rear side view...ugh it looks like a murano as in it looks like an suv. Enjoy the 7th gen. Should be a good deal too. Thanks 8th gen!!!!

I think $18k would be a obtainable deal based on the miles etc... Go for it.

Assuming you bought your base 2013 new and financed it, you've got about 2 years of equity paid into the car. When you say that you can upgrade to the 2013 Sport model for just a little more, are they calculating the financing based on the number of years you had remaining on your previous loan or are they starting you all over again on a new 4 or 5 year loan?

I used to be in the mortgage business and used to refinance people and pay off their credit cards. I could save them hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars a month-- however, keep in mind that I was spreading their payments out over a 30 year mortgage loan.
The finance guy can lower your payment by lengthening the duration of your loan. Is it worth it for you to pay a little more money each month, forego the 2 years of equity that you paid into your previous loan, and start all over with a new 4 or 5 year loan? It might be.

In doing so, you'd be getting a car with about 42,000 less miles and with more extra features. Ultimately, it's going to be your decision since you have to make the payment for those 4 or 5 years...

Don't do it unless you like to throw money in the trash.

You work the finances, that's your business.

BUT, for the smile the new car will put on your face everyday you drive it, PRICELESS!
