Tpms

My battery in my 2010 dies the other day. After jumping the car and installing the a new battery (red top) the TPMS blinks on startup, then remains illuminated.

I've checked the tires and all are properly inflated.

I disconnected the battery for 45 minutes to hopefully do a reset, but nothing changed.

Any suggestions? It seems too coincidental for the TPMS battery to die at the same time as the car battery.

Lets micro this down a bit. When did the warning start to display, after you jumpstarted the car, or after you installed the new battery?

Did you have one or more of the tires serviced before the battery died?

I inflated all the tires to my preferred level (37psi)

The car wouldn't start, I jumped it. Drove to advanced and for the new battery.

I do not recall if the light appeared after the jump or after the battery.

I understand the batteries in the sensors only have a life of about 3-5 years and it could be coincidental one of them failed when you changed the battery. Try taking the car to Discount Tires or Tire rack and see if they can run a scan tool to figure which one of the sensors is bad. They just might do it for nothing.

Ever since I got new tires from Discount Tire a couple years ago they switched out all 4 TPMS sensors and ever since my light has come on. I've literally been back 3-4 times to get it re-calibrated, reset, and even changed. The best was it went 2 weeks without coming back on then it did the same problem and I know the air is correct and there is no leak. I'm just waiting for my next tire change and when they change all 4 TPMS sensors I'll hope it clears, if not then I think it's a bigger issue than the sensors.

I know a dealer won't do it but Is there a way to just shut the TPMS off so the light won't come on?? I would like to know what you guys think but I have been keeping a close eye on my tire pressures for decades before TPMS ever came along. I like the system but by the time you pay for new TPMS sensors every few years and pay for reprogramming I just don't think it all worth it. We are talking about hundreds of dollars for something you can check for free very easily.
