Question For Owners With Y-Pipes & Aftermarket Exhausts...

Just had a question for those who've installed aftermarket y-pipes and cat-back exhausts on their Maximas...

I've got the Motordyne y-pipe and catback exhaust.
I'm not sure if I'm imagining it or if it was due to the cooler fall and now winter temperatures, but it seems like my exhaust sounds louder than when I first had it installed. I checked the flex pipe to make sure there were no holes and the exhaust seems intact.

Don't get me wrong-- I like the performance sound of it which is why I left the stock exhaust behind but I just wanted to see if anyone else noticed their exhaust was louder after an initial break-in period.

Exhaust systems always get louder over time. Enjoy it.

Yes cold makes it sound a bit louder but it will tone down when the pipes heat up. Wait for temps well below 0 then you will hear it roar at start ðŸ˜

As has been said, it gets a bit louder as it breaks in, and when it is cold.
The sound when cold is from the air and metal being more dense in colder temps. This allows sound to travel faster and easier, as well as vibration to do the same.

The sound increases as it breaks in do to the fine ends of the insulation burning off and defined routes for the gas to travel being created.
