Taillight Tint

by far, IMO.Not a fan of tinted tail lights for the most part, but dr_2010SV (I think that's his name) had the best tinted tail lights that I saw. He cut-out little circles (with a hole-puncher, I think?) and put them over each individual LED light on each tail light and then proceeded to tint them professionally; sprayed, sanded, cleared, etc. It looked aesthetically pleasing and original, not like something everyone else has already done.

I personally was never a fan of tinted tails until I put them on and saw how the car looked. It really made it a lot meaner and I fell in love.
Now that it's kinda cracking, I thought I'd try something new
And I have the accents of my car dipped and they've been like that for 2 years so it's time to redo them. It's just that. When I decide to do it, it isn't going to peel off easily... So I'm dreading that. And having to do that to lights would be really annoying
The tints I currently have (the picture with the trees and stuff behind) was a vinyl tint the only thing was that I got the 7GM CUTOUT and that was a terrible idea. Cause it needed to be stretched and it didn't fit right so it took way longer than necessary
I was going to tint my tail lights as well till I found out that your state's vehicle codes might make doing so illegal. In Illinois where I live, tail lights must be visible from at least 500 feet behind the vehicle (daytime & nighttime).
For me, meeting this requirement during the day would mean a very light tint which wasn't worth it for me.
Keep in mind if someone rear ends you and they find that your tail lights were not in compliance due to tinting, you could be the one at fault. Then there's also the possibility of the insurance company not paying out because of it.
Too many potential headaches to be worth it for me.
The Sport package already has a slightly tinted lens already. Gonna just stick with that...

On the other hand, if I had PlastiDipped the lights then they would've been murky and fuzzy..
The lights are very visible with the tint on and when the rear lights come on at night (or if I turn my heads on) then the LEDs look brighter cause the dark tint isolates the light way more. It's kinda weird but with the tints, the lights are very visible.

Nighttime visibility wasn't the issue for me. At night, my tails would definitely be visible at 500 feet even if tinted. My issue was being compliant during the daytime. In daytime, would a dark tint on my tails make the brake lights not visible at 500 feet? That's where the it became too much of a liability for me.
Illinois sucks for mods. For example, any exhaust system louder than stock is considered illegal. So by the letter of the law, my Motordyne exhaust is illegal. However, if ever involved in an accident, the exhaust won't cause a judgement in court the way tinted tail lights might.
Check the laws for the state you live in. They might not have any restrictions on taillight visibility...

Visivility isn't an issue. It sucks that Illinois is annoying about it.
