Talking 09 Maxima Muffler DELETE!

Hey guys,

I don't know how many of you care but I put together a video of my Maxi with its most recent mod/upgrade (in my opinion), the muffler and rear resonator delete!

ENJOY and let me know what you think!

It only drones at 1.8k-2k and around I think 4K
So never on the highway.

Around 80km/h in the manual mode and "6th" gear, it drones.
And even then its not bad at all. Totally bearable

Does this improve performance or is it just the sound?

Apparently it doesn't improve performance, but I feel that acceleration has greatly improved and the car breathes WAY better

This will not change the power, or acceleration of the car. You didn't change the restriction at the engine or y-pipe.
Anything you feel is placebo. It does sound good though.

And I know that and am aware. But in ALL honesty, it feels way better to drive. And maybe that's just cause I have something aside from the engine to listen to.

I just really feel like the acceleration is smoother and more responsive.

I'm not saying that it does, just saying that's how I feel

The sound is not too bad. If I'm going to do the delete mod. I would not remove the resonators.

I just found this
and its Engineer Explained talking about horsepower engine vs wheel. Engine horsepower IS indeed increased if a restrictive exhaust is taken off meaning the muffler. So, I think that's what I'm feeling in my car. It's not drastic increase but there's definitely something.

Let me know what you think

No, the muffler is not the exhaust restriction.
Imagine if you will, that it is like your garden hose.
When you turn on the water, it is like starting the engine.
Now, if you make the end of the hose, 15 feet away have a 6" outlet instead of the 1" outlet, does more water come out?
No, the restriction is up where the hose connects.

You are not gaining hp, and you are not accelerating faster. It is placebo because it sounds better.

I got it done at a local auto shop. I asked Nissan, but they don't do any modifications. But any auto shop/clinic will do it. Cost me $250 Canadian and I'm very satisfied by the sound
