Thumbs up New Member - Timing Advance Error

Hey everyone. I haven't set up my profile yet, but just bought a very clean '09 Maxima with the sport package yesterday. I think I have fallen in love. I'm aiming for some performance mods, thinking F/I will be the best way to go with what i've read on here about the regulation in the transmission and the lack of mods. If this has changed (beyond exhaust, spacers, etc...) please correct me!

Anyways, I scoured these forums for some quick and easy mods - and ran across the 2 degree timing advance. I called my friendly local corrupt underpaid Nissan tech, and he was willing to do this under the table for $30 (as the dealership will not do it...something about voiding warrenty or liability, i dont know). I got excited, and took it in. He said he had done this on his car, an Altima, and many other cars....but when we tried mine - we ran into an error each time. Tried letting engine cool down, then warm up a little. No error code, the computer just said it couldn't do it. Any thoughts on why? He said he's never really ran into that issue before, and he does this frequently. I'd appreciate any of your l33t help, lol.

Either way, I'm excited to be a maxima owner, and will try to get some pictures up soon and along the way. Before I get flamed, I did search the hell out of any errors people had encountered, and didn't see any posts. Maybe this will help someone in the future. Thanks.

Get an aftermarket rear sway bar if you want an upgrade you can feel after you put it on. As far as upgrades like intakes and the Y pipe you really will not see a bunch of performance gains because this is a N/A car. Happy modding.
