Need to replace the rear pads this spring on my 2013. The brakes operate flawlessly right now. My question.... can I get away with just replacing the pads without any problems, or is it a good idea to replace the rotors on the Maxima?

 

At very least get them turned. Rear's rarely warp, so a quick turn to smooth them out is all they need. That said, I had rears that were warped.


Fronts will warp more frequently, but again, turning them too may be all that is required. But in my experience (trust me I tried cutting this corner before) replacing just pads without rotor replacement or turning does lead to uneven wear on the new pads, thus causing more rotor issues.

 

If you are at like 25,000-30,000 miles you should only have to replace the pads only. Make sure you use genuine Nissan parts or they will be making noises in 6 months. don't cheap out!!!

 

There is nothing special about Nissan pads. They just rebrand another companies. I've never had any problems with Centric pads.

 

Just installed the Autozone 85$ dura last ones,they are rated better than OEM they say, give less dust and less noise they say also.... they were the most $$$ out of the bunch they had there so I got them, and I get them for life for free now, just gotta return the old ones next time ....so far so good after about a week and knowing next time they are free is a good feeling. Funny thing is the oem online ones were $55 for the rears only while autozone's were $40.....So how are they rated better is a Autozone mystery lol
