Limp mode

So I’ve been having an issue with my 2010 Maxima going into limp mode. First I replaced the throttle body and did the relearn, didn’t work, did the relearn with the scanner, worked for a day. Replaced the gas pedal/position sensor and did relearn, worked for 700-800 Miles. Now I’m getting p2135 only and am at a loss for what the next step should be. I need my car bc I drive for work. Someone please help!!! I’m desperate at this point and don’t want to have to take it to the dealership.

If it is limp mode, the transmissions for 2009 and 2010 Maxima's have an extended warranty of the transmission, 10yr/120000 miles.

They said $100 for the relearn but at the moment that seems like a lot to me. Also not sure that’s all that’s wrong with it so I don’t wanna go pay to have it done then it not be fixed and have to go pay more

So I cleaned the two grounds on the driver side frame rail and did relearn and so far so good @ 70 Miles. Hopefully this was the issue. Has anyone else had this issue?

THat's why the grounding kits are so popular for these cars...made my car perform better in a lot of ways, even the window motors rolled up quicker with the grounding kit installed.

These weren’t battery grounds, they both came off the main harness and had about 10-15 wires each

I put a extra tranny cooler n changed the fluid and knock on wood but hasn’t happened since about 15k it’s been I’m at 144k now on my 11’ max I even get a lil better gas mileage. I too went down that rabbit hole n changed crankshaft, camshaft, position sensors also speed sensor, and did a re-learn n not till fluid change and extra tranny cooler did it stop.best of luck I know how big pain it is and dangerous it is

Well so far it’s been fine knock on wood, every piece of wood! I cleaned the grounds and did relearn on my own and it hasn’t done it again since

Also, I contacted the dealer and they weren’t interested in hearing about the relearn TSB, they said that’s what the mechanics use as references and not the same as a recall so they wanted $100 to do the relearns. I told myself I would have them do it if the problem came back and so far it hasn’t so I saved $100 so far

It’s back... this morning getting off the freeway I stopped at the light made my turn and the dash lit up and went into limp mode. When I got home I didn’t turn the car off and scanned it and it came up with p2135 throttle position sensor. Anyone have any advice?
i just want this fixed and not keep coming back. It’s been several months since I cleaned the grounds, replaced throttle body and gas pedal and did the relearn myself.
Anyone else have this happen? What fixed it?

I am going to be a genuine max owner, this forum is great but my brake booster went out on me then I found out most of my whole front end was failing. These are great cars some people experience no issues and some of us do. Luckily most of the work was under warranty, I go to the dealer and I find out what the deal is and then I make the move. Nissan will always tell you whats wrong but not whats right.

So the dealership called and said it’s the throttle body, which i replaced with a hitachi throttle body from rock auto about 6 months ago...but when I replaced the throttle body it did not resolve the issue...it was when I cleaned the grounds and did the relearn that it stopped going into limp mode until last Friday...

im currently having the same issue and the dealer won’t diagnose it because of the after market parts but did you ever find out what the issue was and how did you fix it

So I downloaded the service manual and went through all the troubleshooting steps for the codes I had. Which was basically checking continuity between the connector at the throttle body and the ecu, then checking to make sure both spots are receiving the proper information from the pedal. All of this testing came back fine. I ended up putting the stock throttle body back in for ****s and giggles, did the relearn again and it hasn’t gone into limp mode for almost 2,500 miles.

I wish i had an actual resolution for you but I haven’t been able to find a definitive problem. So at this current point all I’ve really done is replace the pedal with an oem one from Nissan but initially that didn’t resolve the problem.

If capable, you should get the service manual online and look up your code and go through the diagnostics/trouble shooting steps yourself just to rule out there being a wiring/connector issue.

My 09 started doing the same thing. What's the relearn? I know it isn't a sensor I had mechanics baffled at this issue because after resetting the check engine light it hasn't came back when it goes into limp mode. How do I do the relearn

Check your alternator first and your battery low batter can make ecu read sensors and solenoids being bad and scanners will read them as codes but wont tell you of a bad alternator. there jus not getting enough power to work properly I've gone thru jus about every solenoid an ended up being that in it was not any of them just a bad alternator not being able to provide the power anymore. And ultimately you will damage those solenoids and sensors and transmission valve body an put your car into a full limp mode were the wheel will lock up an not engage in to any gear beside reverse until u end up locking that gear. And do and transmission oil and filter change.

Yes I have an 09 with the same issue. Repaired my grounding. Did a transmission valve body replacement and filters. Has been ok but stalling came back I may just replace all sensors cam, crank and speed. Oh and knock sensor. Just to cover the basics.
