TIRES-245/45R18 to 225/45R18
Hello Guys, Newbie post here! I have went through tons of the treads to get the right answer but Im losing my mind while searching for this! I Have a simple question, I have a 2014 Nissan Maxima SV with stock 18's. Right now I have a set of 245/45R18 on there but I found a good deal for some winter tires (ohio) but the size is 225/45R18. We have pretty bad winters out here so I am wondering if they will work. Thanks for your time and I'm sorry if this was posted before!
245/45R18 to 225/45R18?

A brief translation of what the numbers mean
245 means you have a tire width of 245 millimeters
45 means the sidewall height is 45% of the width or 110.25mm
With a 225/45 your sidewall height is 101.25 mm
So as LUDIMaxima said, you should be fine but your speedometer will show you doing faster than you really are by just a wee bit and bumps may feel a bit more harsh.
I was always taught that a slightly smaller width snow tire was always preferable.
