Key fob range

I literally have to have the key fob touching the car for it to lock or unlock. Fobs have new batteries and the car had a new battery put in earlier this year. I’d leave it as is but I have the remote starter that turns the car on when you press the lock button 3 times. 2009 Max

Try a new fob or if you have another try it.. They have a pretty good range.. but they don't last forever... Your fob is at least 10 years old.. if you have a 09...

Yeah, sometimes they just die insofar as their range goes. I just went through pretty much the same thing with one of my other cars (2010 F-150 pickup). The range kept declining, even with new batteries...finally just quit working.

Yonkers Nissan just told me it is $350.00 for a replacement Fob for a 2009 Maxima. Is that ever in the ball park of what it costs?

Had my daughter's car do the same thing, when we bought it, different brand certified so it was warrantied. I brought it back next day and they had to rework the antenna in the car. It was disconnected or something like that. I never actually saw the part or the work, I just know that as you stated you had to just about touch the car, even then it was iffy, after the work, can arm it from 1/8 a mile away unobstructed.

I had the same thing happen to my 2008 maxima. It actually turned out to be that the battery inside the fob wasn’t thick enough so it was having trouble making good contact the contact thingamajig.
