CVT: Issue or normal operation

Ok so this is my first CVT transmission vehicle and I'm getting used to the Doug Demuro style quirks and intricacies but I'm unsure whether this is a problem or something normal that CVTs do. While driving at a steady pace, I'd say about 60-65mph on the freeway with the rpms at about 2k, the rpms seem to float every 1-2 minutes. It goes from 2000 to 2100 for just a second then back to 2000. It doesn't have a slip or jerky feel at all. I guess the best way to describe it is it seems like the car takes a small breather before going back to business. No CVT lights or issues but I will be going to Nissan soon to get a flush in the immediate future. Max was bought used and has 79k and I bought it at 74k. Had it about 3 months so far.

while it is not unusual for rpms to float a bit in our cvt. unless you are in rolling hills, that much, that often is a bit high. The normal drain fill and filter replacement may help.

I live in Houston so most if not all of my driving is done on freeways and they all are hill like so to speak. But glad to know the drain and fill should help. Thinking about tackling it myself. Not to say I'm mechanically inclined. But I've seen the video on YouTube. Looks pretty straightforward similar to a oil change with a few differences. Just my anxiety is high because so much negativity towards Nissan and their CVTs everywhere.

I would say its close to normal. My RPMs climb and lower when I hit headwinds and inclines. Worse with A/C on. But yeah get fluid changed regularly.

The Nissan CVT is actually a VERY good unit. Lots of cars out there still going strong with 100K, 200K, or more on the clock. Most of the 'bashers' are the "stuck-in-the-'60s" manual shift fanatics, lol!

Happens to my car CVT too, RPM are not ROCK SOLID at a certain speed, minimal change in road conditions and inclination trigger the RPM to fluctuate a bit.
