Our cars take ages to warm up?
I have a 2009S, today's weather is clear, nice and sunny. But temperature is 15F!
Why it takes AGES for our cars to warm up? Then after engine warms up, CVT also gets long before it starts to behave correctly, and warms up ?
Is it me only? Is it only because of the aluminum block?
I use Mobile 1 Full Synth 5w30 and Nissan OEM radiator fluid with 50/50 mixture.
Even if I let engine idle for 10 minutes, it takes too long to warm up !

I’ve always felt like the maximas heated up quicker then all my other cars. The last couple days here in the northeast have been brutal as far as temps. When it gets this cold I always wait at least 45 seconds before driving if I haven’t had time to let the car sit and warm up. In actuality though after about 30 seconds your good to go. I understand what your saying as far as the car feels like it’s struggling. Just take it easy on her until she’s up to complete operating temperature. Like others said,it warms up faster when you drive it.

It got down to 45 this morning so I had to wear a parka with my sandals and shorts! Thank goodness for Climate Control Seats and heated steering wheels! But seriously, I agree that my 7th gen, even as long in the tooth as it is, still warms up faster than any other car I had (with perchance the exception of an Old Datsun 210 I had) Certainly much faster than a MilleCinque!

2 Toyotas(Camry) in the big family, 3 Hondas(CRV and 2 Odyssey), and 1 Chrysler (Sebring)
The Maxima is the slowest to warm up here (had these through the years: 96, 97, 2002, 2003 and then 2 7th gen)
You guys who say Maxima is faster to warm up never drove an Odyssey or Accord it seems.

I'll start by saying that as I type this the high for the day here is -7F...yes that's a minus, and tonight's low is -23F.
I've also experienced faster warm-up times in the Maxima...I've got a 3.5L V6 Highlander that definitely takes longer to show movement on the coolant needle...could be a different setting on the thermostat but my guess is that being identical in displacement it is likely due to having more room around it in the engine bay, which equals letting more heat escape...the Max engine is somewhat shoehorned into the space.
Let it idle to warm up for your own comfort and to let the lubrication system do its work...autostart combined with heated steering wheel FTW! Driving it right off is OK but keep the tach down until it has warmed. The CVT does take a bit of time, the engine will stay higher in RPM until the fluid warms and the only way to do that is by driving it.

au contraire...one of the things I marvel about on my Max is that there is SOME heat literally instantly the moment I start the car. I mean...instantly, like there is some sort of electric heat assist that kicks on. It was 9 degrees here a couple of days ago with heavy frost on the windshields, hopped in the car at 5:00 AM to go to work, started it, turned on the rear defrost and the steering wheel heater and noticed the windshield already starting to defrost. Fawking insane. I think if you aren't seeing this same level of heat, you have something wrong.
My Volvo S80 was the same way...literally INSTANT heat coming from the car, and I know the coolant was ice cold. Cool feature, however they do it, for sure.
