Akebono BBK on 7th gen
Akebono BBK on 7th gen
Just did a set of G37S akebono big brake kit with stop tech rotors on my 09 maxima, this kit came used off a G37S, the install went perfect all bolted up correctly but my ebrake doesn’t work any more so i took off the rear wheel and held my olD EBC rotor up against the new stop tech, the hat of the new rotor is about 10mm larger than my old EBC rotor so that makes sense now why my brake isn’t grabbing anything, so I tried turning the little gear to adjust the ebrake but it wont expand enough to touch the new stop tech rotor, my question is can i buy a larger set of ebrake shoes that will work for the new rotors, thanx in advance

Silly question but did you get the g37s rotors for the rear. They are not the same as the maxima. The max has a rear rotor thickness of .63 and the g37s sport has rear rotor thickness of .79. Diameter of oem max is rear is also smaller. Don’t know if that’s what your referring too.

yes the whole kit came used off a G37S, so your saying theres no way to make that rotor work with my factory maxima ebrake? I either have to get new rear rotors for the maxima or a G37S ebrake setup? or just deal with no ebrake lol
I have never changed them ebrake shoes, car has 68K on it, so I tried turning the gear 10 clicks or so to tighten the brake and still nothing, not even a slight grab, the pedal goes straight to the ground quickly no tension on it so im assuming the shoes are just still so far away from grading the inside of the new larger rotor hat

If you want to compare the parts yourself / need a diagram, here are the websites.

I never had to detach the parking brake cable to change the rear rotors and calipers on my 09 maxima also while I have you can you tell me what your doing for a spare tire now, I have 20” vossens on the car regularly but I’m trying to figure out what to do about a spare now
Idk if your talking to me but I’ll tell what I’m currently doing. Praying. Praying I don’t catch a flat. My spacers are supposed to be in this week but I’ve been running without a viable spare for a few months now. The spacers will be a temp fix but I will be getting the actual space from the 370z sport. That one is designed to clear the akebonos
host and upload image onlineThats the spare that comes with the 370z sport/nismo and also g37 sports
I was thinking about the spacer thing myself, my car only gets used on the weekends and gets maybe 2k a year of that so I was thinking about doing a spacer on my original spare tire just to get me out of jam of it ever occurs “knock on wood” what did you get a 5x114.3 20mm can you let me know what size you needed to make your maxima spare clear the fronts once you try it, greatly appreciated
