Key not recognized in key port
Key not recognized in key port
I am installing a remote starter in my car, and and in order to program it I need to put the key into the keyport so the module can copy the info off the key. The problem is that the key is not being read properly. I tried taking out the battery from the key and putting it into the keyboard and the car will not start, even though it really should since if you have a dead battery and you put it into the keyport the car will start. The screen just says insert key. Anyone have any idea why this would happen? Thanks!
If you reverted back to stock and it works but doesn't after the remote start system installation then it sounds like a problem with copying the transmitter code algorithm or the module itself. Try contacting the manufacturer of the remote start system to troubleshoot it or have an authorized security specialist install the system. If you're working with Clifford/Viper then have an authorized dealer install it. I have seen problems with trying to pair a replacement key / additional keywhen those systems are installed. It prevents adding on additional keys to the vehicle key registry and would have to be removed in order to add a key. Contact the manufacturer.

And, the remote start I am installing is the Fortin Nist1 with the T harness.
Like I said, contact the manufacturer for troubleshooting or confirmation.
