AC Hissing/Wooshing from Underdash

2009 with 176k miles.

I know AC issues get discussed a lot and I've done quite of bit of reading up on the topic. I've never had to deal with AC issues, so I wanted to run this specific problem by the group before I go ***** deep in my investigation. Yesterday, I heard a noise coming from what seemed to be under the dash in the center by where the foot vents are. It's more of a hissing/wooshing noise only when the AC button is on.

Fan works fine and the noise does not change with a change in the fan speed. Thoughts? Thanks!

Not sure if this link will work: https://photos.app.goo.gl/szs3W5bV6figF6dk7

I am thinking expansion valve and or a little undercharged as it sure sounds like the classic refridgerant hiss. Does it cool well or is it to chilly to determine that?

I dont think it's cooling very much. We had a warm/rainy day earlier this week and it didn't seem to cool very much. I took a listen under the hood and it does sound different in the general compressor area. I pick up on small nuances in noises and usually catch things before they're really loud. I'll get out there tomorrow and see if I can find anything else out.

As it turns out, now the AC system doesn't come on at all. When I hit the AC button, there is no compressor engagement. I'll get under there this weekend and poke around.

Got the system recharged and it's working again. Now it's just the wait for it tow quit again and see if the dye reveals a minor leak.

Yes, as soon as it got a charge the hiss went away. I'm going to test it out over the next few days to see if it holds.

I know im late but just curious if you found out anything more or if the charge fixed it? My 2012 seems to have the exact same symptoms and sounds the same as the video you posted.
