Launching my 2011 Maxima

What’s the best way to launch/accelerate the fastest from a dead stop in my Maxima, Ik it’s a CVT and I’ve heard some people say “massage the pedal” but idk what that means, any help?

What they are trying to tell you is "Don't do it unless you want to replace your CVT soonest." One doesn't typically "launch" 4 door sedans.

The best way is not to do it! It's a nice car enjoy cruising in it that's what it's made for, Nice gentle acceleration then on the highway hold a nice steady speed and hear her gently roar! That does the trick for me with out worrying about if I'm damaging my CVT or not. That's how I treat my Max's but it's your car your investment you can push her as hard as you want, This is just our opinions here on the forums and I trust a lot of my fellow 7th gens opinions and info/advice.

What's your highest acceptable RPM at launch from a dead stop guys? The way I drive ( here it's very nerve racking driving around brainless kids or mamy and dady bought cars that they don't fix themselves) is I RARELY see my RPM exceed 2.2k and that's on going uphills...Am I overkilling my cvt preservation process?

Probably, I never floor it from a light, but sometimes in traffic you gotta do what you gotta do.

If I need to pass a car on the highway I'll push her a little but I too never floor mine or my wife's Maxima, I'm good just cruising with them and doing the occasional push to get by some slow traffic. Never been floored for a launch.

With these cars imo I would rather go easy most of the time than hard, I love my cars but these CVT's are trial and error I don't trust their reliability so for my piece of mind I take it easy and only push it some only when absolutely necessary! My previous car 2005 Nissan Altima I was able to push her that car was a 4 cylinder but handled a good launch like a champ, Now this isn't that I'm saying our cars can't handle to be floored for a fast launch, I'm just pointing out that the trial and error of these CVT's failing suddenly is there and has happened to people.

When your CVT goes bad, it's an excuse to do a manual swap

But why spend 5k-10k and trans swap? You could put that towards a car that has way more potential and doesn’t require a trans swap. Q50s can readily be found for under 15k now. G37 sedans can be found for under 10k.

Seriously I don't beat on it at all, maybe launched it a year ago and maybe few times on a roll on the highway......with 190K original CVT I love my reliable car and don't want to get rid of it.......my last two cars I killed the tranny and learned my lesson......Acura Integra and my 00 Maxima.....miss them both, but this one is my favorite.....i take care of it but know how to launch it just in case lol.

Many "theories" of 09 has the best CVT, no proof other than anecdotal observations. It would have been more logical to believe they improved the CVT going forward in time!
Well I wish this is true, I have an 09!
